The Final Meeting Place of a Drunk Drive

Hi mom, what's up dad
I finally made it here
This trip will be brief
For I've had quite a year

Last thing I remember is..
Flipping in the air
And I caught a glimpse of the people I hit
The girl playing in her booster chair

I remember the lady too
She'll be here soon
Her trip is longer than mine
And her daugter's too

I'm sorry I let you down ma
I'm so, so sorry dad
But when y'all left out of my life
I turned from good to bad

I dropped out of college
And left a prominent career
Secretly my successful future
Soon became my fear

I loved to party hard
And loved loved to party long
I'd get drunk with all of my friends
And make up crazy songs

I knew I made a grave mistake
My said just call a cab
As I ripped the keys from my pocket
I thought of the time I had

I watched as my front end gave
I was crushed into a pulp
That other place is calling now
I love y'all but I got to go

Sobering..... Or at least it should be!! My children are attending college at Pensacola Christian College. Say 'Hey' to them from their Dad in Oregon!! I hope this poem isn't reflective of 'actual events' to some degree or another, but more of a statement of concern for what is likely to happen when one chooses to 'DRINK AND DRIVE' rather than 'THINK AND DRIVE' as you so wisely encourage them to do. Thanks for your post!

This has really good content urfav, unfortunately it may be true for too many people. Here's a thought, what if this is all there is? That there are no other places to go?

thumbs up teddybear
