What is a Friend?

This is my discription of a friend.
A real friend likes you no matter what,
Accepts you and your faults and strengths,

One who is there for you when you need them,
and even when you dont. One who when you are
with them you feel good and happy.

One who listens, when you need to talk,
who gives advise when you need it, and
even when you dont think you do.

One who will let you cry when you need
to cry, and laugh with you too.

One who would never intentionally get
pleasure out of hurting you. One who
isnt afraid to say im sorry.

One who is there to help, not hinder
your progress or plans.
who is willing to compromise with you

One who will just sit and have quiet time
with you, cause the most important thing
is spending time together.

One who will say I am wrong when i truly am

These are the things, I look for in a friend
and also the kind of friend i am to those
who i choose to have for a friend.

To those who cant find it in them to be a
true friend, move on down the road.

nevada, i think your description of the fine qualities of friends pretty well hits the mark spot on. ;-)

This is how I imagine a friend, compassionate in the first place, supportive and trustworthy. Being a friend is taking great responsibility, you are right. And the reward for true friendship can not be measured or described in words. True wisdom and great heart - this is what abound in this poem. Thank you for feeling the way you do.
NeverEndingStory
A true friend is an angel without wings and even if you don't see them for days maybe weeks at a time, you know they'll be there for you none the less. Thank you for the poem, very wise and touching. wave
