Pretty Lady

Well, I went down to the marketplace,
To see what I could could find.
I saw a pretty lady,
With smiling on her mind.
She had a cart full of groceries,
And, boy, they sure looked good.
I said, "Man, those goodies sure do look good."
She said, "Dinner's ready at six, boy,
"And don't you dare be late."
I said, "How do I find your house.
"I don't know where you live."
She said, "You'll find it.
"Just look for the only house in town,
"With a red light on the porch."
Well, that should have been a warning
For anyone but me,
But big, dumb, and stupid,
That's for me.
So I searched all day for her house,
And finally found it right at six.
Yes, I walked up to the door right at six.
Ten thousand cop cars showed up at the door,
Saying, "Sir, you're under arrest
"For being with a member of
"The entertainment industry."
Well, they hauled me off to jail,
And they threw away the key,
And now Bubba is making me look pretty.
So the moral of this story,
Yes, this moral it is real,
If a pretty lady at Safeway
You should see,
Smiling and talking about
A red light on the porth,
Don't say yes, and don't say more.
Just run the other way forever more,
Cause it's a lot more trouble
Than it's worth.
Yeah, it's a lot more trouble
Than it's worth.

About this poem:
I was feeling silly one day and wrote this song, the only rap song I ever wrote. It's a humorous tale of metting someone at Safeway and being invited to dinner, with disastrous results.
