Red Helen And Blue Ken

Red Helen And Blue Ken

“Dear Red Helen when first we met
Upon that scorched summer night
Had we known what was to come yet
Would we both have taken fright?”

When our stranger's eyes met across open space
and that nervous smile showed upon your face
could you guess then we would have no choice
sharing an enchantment, speaking in one voice?

It started in the car, my hand upon your chest
I query how this man could ever be so blessed
unbelieving I, that I would make love with you
not ever imagining that such a deed come true!

With such a gap between your age and mine
I couldn’t see how our bodies could combine
or how your love you would easily give to me
for the many years between us, you could see!

Yet although we were alone in our loving field
with love’s magic and us two so well concealed
my dreams became reality under that night sky
as I felt for one moment an Angel passed nearby!

It was a decade later when we both agreed to part
so Red Helen and Blue Ken share a broken heart!
Though once upon a time we both shared Eldorado
no longer do we stand inside each other’s shadow!

I am ever grateful a daughter came from our love
as I search for some comfort from that sky above,
all I see is the memory of what we both had then
now written in the stars, Red Helen and Blue Ken!
