Seasons

Seasons

In the Springtime of your life emotions were never still
when priorities were quelled for youth’s promise to fill.
Time passed faster than you knew when Summer came
starry eyed, when cupid set fire to young love’s flame!

After you burned the Autumn fires of your discontent
you thought you began to grasp life’s uncertain intent.
Old man time travelled faster than you dared to know
as you began to wander here and there and to and fro!

Searching from the mountains of a land’s northern tip
to south where rain filled rivers kissed the ocean’s lip.
Discovering the treasures that men set their hopes on
like the snows on the desert, in a moment they’re gone!

Unlike others yet to search here you cannot truly care
knowing in your heart answers are not here nor there.
Going through life looking for a love’s perpetual light
bypassing the discovery, without seeing it was in sight!

Unknowingly wasting the life that you wantonly spent
now and then finding the depths of despair, to repent.
Amid clawing restlessness a dire need slowly returns,
unleashing an inner fire where a hidden desire burns!

Suddenly one morning as dawn rises and thoughts clear
turning the memory of past regrets to a new found fear.
Now remembering the pretty face you chose to forsake
asking a second chance you know destiny cannot make!

With thoughts more and more counting wasted years
aware you were deceived, only within your own fears.
So, as Winter’s heavy garment hangs upon your brow
your time travels faster than you can ever know now!

Like a fading oasis in the desert of obscurity, you wait
for the grim sand dunes of time to envelope you in fate.
As your life expires you hope to be forgiven your sins,
now you pray your soul is freed and eternal life begins!
