Taking All that’s Taken

Can I duct tape up your broken heart
so it can beat again tonight
Peroxide words drip off my tongue
will we ever get it right

I need to break these taken fingers
they explore around your skirt
I try to hide these broken wings
hidden tucked beneath my shirt

I’m dying to just to die with you
I need to inhale your exhale
Back I sit and watch and wait
That ship has finally sailed

The salty taste of soft regret
The ballet of our lips
Temptation in its purest form
Pressed against my finger tips

Early mornings great sunrise
Sings songs I shouldn’t know
My heart it whispers not to leave
My mind is screaming go

You’re a virus in the air I breathe
Still I take a deeper breath
You’re a pistol pressed against my head
With open arms I welcome death
