I fought for your FREEDOM this day i now see for it did not matter to thee. For all that you have i put my life on the line day after day only to find JUDGEMENT RIDICULE From thee My unit Is gone For we were the defense LINE. God spoke and put me out of arms way only to find out later my unit, comrades were all gone to heaven today.
I worked with a guy who fought in Iraq some time around 2004. He had two jobs. One was to drive a vehicle, the other was to operate a gun on top of that vehicle with no armor. Out of his unit of 100, only 30 survived, he was one of them. Branson, Missouri was ranked #1 in appreciation for veterans. We have a memorial going up in Platteville for veterans. I appreciate you and I thank you.

I have a lot of respect for soldiers. These poems say it best. Thanks: A Soldier's Cross
The soldier had honourably met his fate And as he stood before the gate, He thought he would forever wait But his name was found atop the slate.
He asked if he would be sent below For having to kill his country's foe, But then was told an emphatic No, Straight to the Lord with honour go.
You have given your precious life, To help free others from hellish strife Leaving behind both child and wife, For this you will be given eternal life.
Long ago a battle was valiantly fought, And in so doing an example was taught, To His people who have never forgot, With His life our forgiveness was bought.
In Heaven soldiers will be everywhere, For they gave that others might fair With peace and love for all to share, But a soldier's cross is heaviest to bear.
To Fight And Die
They serve to fight and die, Yet does anyone even ask why, For they are heroes hidden away, That keep us safe every day.
They take the battle far away, Where evil has long held sway, To show that right is the way, Correcting those once led astray.
In ages past knights prevailed, As valour sought what was entailed, Thus started a fire that still burns Within darkness where freedom yearns.
So know that in a nation's honour, That not another has out shone her A soldier sees what is there on her, A holy duty that's placed upon her.
hawqeye thanks for such beauty layed before on this page.
