13114 Days

Embedded image from another site

Deaths grip is chilling me
Maybe I should close the door
I don't want to be afraid
But the surface feels so cold
In my mind there is a back door
Maybe some place I could hide
I see the lines on my face
The mirror doesn't lie
Of all that I have overcome
I just can not challenge age
So I embrace the love for my life
And mark off the days

I am exactly 2,214 weeks old today. Born on Friday the 13th. I have seen 11 leap years and intend to see many more! This was a nicely written poem. I try to embrace each day and enjoy, but deaths grip does not yet chill me. The sun shines through and warms me to a smile. Thanks for sharing with us. grin hug

I like George Carlin's quotes on age. "Every day I break the previous record for number of days I've stayed alive." "I'm 70 now, not as good as 69. 69 was always my favorite number. Now I figure I'm 69 with one finger up my a**." "I'm not an old man. Old man is a state of mind, it's an attitude. Many guys are old men when they're in their 20's. They're just wired like old men. So I'm not an old man. You know what I am? I'm an old f@#$."rolling on the floor laughing cheers tip hat
