" The Artist "

When an emotion
has found its thought
And the thought
has found its words
Poetry becomes a feeling
unlocking the universe
So it was there at the cursor
that I stared blankly for a while
In search of inspiration
but instead I fell
without a smile
It was at that moment I realized
let the world become the artist
So that I am but a thought
she is creating on a canvas
And with every stroke of her brush
a new thought had found its way
Expressions of firey gold
some dismal and some gray
Stratus clouds roll lazily through blue
reigning yellow beams of light
A descending stairway to the heavens
from a melting hot sunrise
Shining bright above
the mountain tops
Reflecting from the oceans tides
Piercing through the blackened forests
of infinite and hopeless sighs
Looking deeper into the abyss
of chaos and all it's hell inside
Where there is a deeper beauty
that only ones soul can yet describe
It was there she laid her palette down
and stared far into those endless nights
Where emotions have found their words
and poetry has found it's life

About this poem:
A good friend asked me recently to teach her poetry. Rather she was serious or not I really didn't know what to say, so I quoted her something from Robert Frost which I also opened this verse with.
Plutarch said " Painting is silent poetry, and poetry is painting that speaks "
I dont consider myself a poet, just some guy who uses his pen as a paddle and the currents as my guide. What is poetry to you ?.. Cheers cheers

Your paddling is great and comparing poetry and the art of painting adds to your verses so much beauty.
I read a book once from Charles Sullivan were he matched each poem to a painting and titled the book " Loving ".
For me poetry is something that comes out within each person; their thoughts .. inspiration..words and all together a masterpiece of their own. I enjoy the interpretation of poetry as each one's talent level outburst their message.

Magnificent poem Jesse as always. The
joy of painting and the joy of poetry
are one and the same.I've done both for
many years. But at its heart I believe
the creative process itself; no matter
the form of expression, is the tie that
binds. We experience the gift of God when
we connect with ourselves, be it baking
that special birthday cake; building a
house, or producing some extrodinary
invention. Creativity is the breath of
the divine that animates the soul. Just
my thoughts.

Very awe inspiring Jesse. Poetry to me is an emotional outlet of my hopes, dreams and frustrations. I have always wanted to paint a beautiful picture, but my artistic talents lie only with stick people and bad stick people at that. Playing an instrument? Not so great. Singing - acceptable. My poems? Only my critics know for sure, but it is something to express my feelings when they start piling up. Thanks for the wonderful write.
