Daddy when I grow up
I want to be just like you
And from that very moment
I started to come unglued
My life began to flash
right before my guilty eyes
Than my soul started bleeding
When she looked back up to mine
Because inside I am torn to pieces
from this never ending storm
And my actions are no better
Im like a tornado in a china store
But She is so forgiving
and her love is so unconditional
After all the broken promises
She still never lost her hope
Its not because I am her daddy
Its because she has an angels soul
If I didnt have her here
I would of lost myself so long ago
And for that gift from God
I have found a will to live
Beyond all of its its measures
And all my love to her I give
But to learn to be this way
I had to become a child
So pure and innocent
I get lost in her little smiles
I look up to God for guidance
Because honestly I cant do this on my own
I once thought that I could
but than I came undone
Please lead my footsteps
and give my hands the courage to hold on
And please fill me up with wisdom
So that I may teach her to be strong
Three years ago today
is when she said those words to me
And sometimes I still wonder
am I everyting that I can be
She draws me pretty pictures
and even writes me poetry
And thats when I am certain
That Im all that I need to be
