Our love song is briefly silent
it rings a tune of solitude
as it plays it’s isolated melody
of passion once ensued.

The tune is much too simple
anyone can sing along
it’s played by many lovers
in each one’s heartache song.

The emptiness of time gone by
without a single embrace
gives way to thoughts of happiness
and how much I’ve missed your face.

Without you here at my side
my life is so mundane
I gaze into the starlit skies
out past my window pane.

If only for a moment
put everything aside
remember what used to be
when our love was felt inside?

It was more than we could imagine
It was more than just a fling
It was pure love within our hearts
embedded within our very being.

It’s that song I now sing
the tune of a lovers heart
The lullaby that soothes my soul
as it did right from the start.
