This entity we call dating "online" Is designed to make us really feel "fine" But in the larger reality It may be a form of insanity We all truly believe it's ok So we practice everyday
Desiring to make that perfect connection We have no phone to even hear a voice inflection It takes a certain amount of conviction To focus and contemplate our selection No one wants any rejection only attention So our minds begin the process of introspection And that one beautiful exception
Are we holding out for perfection? Or just dreading a disconnection! This online dating is like an infection At some point we may need an inoculation But not before you complete that chemistry section! So we know we're heading in the right direction
If we live too far That may be deal breaker We don't want to use our car Because one of us could be a faker I guess people do get together In, I presume, all kinds of weather It all seems so surreal
To believe a profile can appeal To the one you seek for the rest of your life Whether it be a husband or a wife Here's to online dating - "cheers" I am so glad we are all here!
Wiggle your mouse and contact someone special It won't be that awful or too stressful There's always "delete" So you don't have to repeat Any mistakes on your way to success Let's all be very extra careful And hope we get to that next level!

About this poem:
Just penning some thoughts about this "reality", the phenomena we call "online dating", what is it really? Something to ponder!
You captured the cyber world well in this one I.M. Nicely done ! Mick.

Yes, it is a strange puzzle in a modern age. Like Facebook, we can speak before we speak. I am in a wee corner in a wee country, yet have been "viewed" countless times, by countless men, from countless countries. And you are also right about hearing "a voice inflection". Like a photo speaks a thousand words, the voice also divulges so much.In the end, personally, all I crave is human touch. Yet, I am not not getting very much! Thank you for expressing your views so well here.
There are so many chances people take with online dating, you do have to be careful. I have never met anyone online, guess I'm scared they might turn out to be something aweful.
Hi Imagine, yes It Is strange this on-line dating, for many It Is a lark. They don't take Into account the pain they may cause others. All I can say Is thank God for the little corner here. I really did like your take on the on-line dating scene though, most Interesting. Have a good day. Catch you later. Your Friend always....MIKE.

I see comments from my beloved Ireland and Scotland as well as my home in the US! I wrote that Ode last month about a site I was on and am on no more! I see the trouble is on all the sites and still ensues, but that's ok, we just get wiser eh? Thanks we really all are here and I am glad! The poetry makes is awesome!

Love this! You bring out many things a person needs to keep in mind ...voice inflection (or lack of) is important to keep in mind on any kind of site.
AND you made me laugh! To me, some of the most hilarious:"At some point we may need an inoculation" "Wiggle your mouse and contact someone special"
Great poem and Best Wishes! SCatlyn
p.s.My husband introduced me to this site mainly b/c of Poetry Corner, though it was before we were married, and this wasn't the site we met on. I agree it's a really great feature here!
You made it sound like an online game... "Let's all be very extra careful And hope we get to the next level"
Totally agree, careful is the only way we can get to the next level I reckon. I like how you treated the subject in such a fun and light manner.

Distance make the heart grow wary.
This has been a test of the on-line dating warning system.

Well people of the CS world since it was so eloquently explained about how dysfunctional we all are about this topic who is to blame? The site administration team offers everyone a chance to form friendships and relationships here at no cost but our emotions. If it were not for the problem of distance we may all learn to get along so much better. Remember this in your travels chasing after each other and never really catching. You are free to believe what you want and what you do or not do attests to what you believe is true.
