About this poem:
Advice to New Poets:
Focus on the quality of your poetry And continue to improve it with each write Through your sustained effort and tenacity Your true poetic talent will come to light
I hope new as well as seasoned poets will read and take your advice into consideration: improving one's poetry is a lifelong effort. The main thing is that we take what we are doing seriously and are not fully satisfied with our final product, cause the moment we post the poem it no longer belongs only to us, but is in a sense a common property. Thank you very much, dear poet, for bringing this issue to our notice!
A Song about You ("You" may be regarded as inspiration the poet searched for during whole life, cause this is in a figurative sense what poets should be doing - spare no efforts, go all lengths to write really, really good poetry):
A SONG ABOUT YOU Author: Garold Registan
I traveled so much in my life. I lost sometimes shores in the sea. I rocked and been shaken in skies. In steppe I was scorched by freeze.
But heart knew not peace as it roamed And urged to advance, straight on go. On road – I was dreaming of home, At home – I dreamed mostly of road.
When tiredness took hold of me I sang about roads trod in life. I missed love when happy, in bliss. I missed sorrow much when in love.
And heart never stopped in its search. It seemed as if planet was small. I missed cold so much when it snowed. I missed warmth so much in sun’s glow.
And heart, silly heart, did not know, When bothered and pestered me so, That all that it missed, it searched for, Was you, merely you, nothing more!

marikia Thanks for your comment. Hope the new poets will take note of your statement: "improving one's poetry is a lifelong effort." Thanks for posting a poem(which I assume you translated) to demonstrate this.
Socrates - just saw this thanks to Roseocura! Good advice. And I agree Roseocura - I miss all the old poets - they have dropped off one by one. So sad.

I think she(ImagineLove) is no longer with us on Poetry Corner. I recall she had mentioned that she was moving on to other things in her personal life a few years ago.
