Love Affair

Embedded image from another site

Clothes draped upon a chair
Rumpled bed with no one there
The scent of faint perfume still fills the air
Lingering hopes and dreams spoken with care
Promises espoused and meant to share
In remnants of a forgotten love affair

Candles on the table glow
Glasses filled with fine Bordeaux
Happiness once lived here I know
Pictures on the wall that show
Sweet memories of long ago
Under lights turned down low

As the hurt and loneliness flare
Searching for lasting love becomes rare
Hearts cry out and suffer so beware
Spoken like a beseeching prayer
Silently and beyond compare
Laying emotions bare

“Better to have loved and lost”
Silvery gray and glossed
Distantly star crossed
No matter the cost
Hearts tossed
Embossed
In frost

About this poem:
“Don’t be afraid to feel hurt, it can take you to the next level of your life” ~Bliss~

I wrote this for someone very special to me that is going through an end to a love affair. Life goes on if even ever so slowly, time does heal.
