The Dream
The Dream
Constantly he is agitated
His heart throbs with anxiety
The desire within seeks freedom
But alas! It is chained by internal troubles
Doubts and fears rule his mind
Depression and turmoil steal his time
Yet within greatness seeks expression
The dream within never dies
The dream is fought by valiant foes
Spears and darts his enemies throw
The dream is trivialized & criticized
Yet the dream within never dies
Wealth is not his obsession
Fame to him is merely a delusion
Oh! How the dream longs for expression
The dream within never dies
Those he looked to turn from him
Gripped with pain his soul sinks within
Days, weeks, months passed
He grows gaunt, so thin
The dream within never dies
Society, family, friends misunderstand,
Imposing another dream upon the man
Confused he is tricked to believe the lie
Discontented he wished for wings to fly in the sky
The dream within never dies
The dream arrests his passions
Fighting against doubts, fear and rejection
Underestimated by his powerful foes
The dream inflicts awesome blows
The dream within never dies
The dream fights because the man fights
The dream is determined because the man is determined
The dream triumphs because the man wills to triumph
The dream within never dies
Critics discourage its aspirations
Doubters misjudge its potential
Yet the dream they cannot take from him
It was his, is his, will always be his
It is within, indestructible, of his nature
The dream within never dies
In death he is silent
In death his dream speaks
It will always be spoken of, remembered, respected
It will always inspire
The dream within never dies
The dream is his purpose,
His destiny, resting on his giftedness
It is his potent passion drawing upon his skills
It is the seed, the bloom, the fruit
The harvest of his purpose and existence
Never fear, dare to dream
Achievers are dreamers
The dream within never dies.

About this poem:
this poem is about conflicting feelings of rejection, depression and turmoil in the face of disappointing setbacks but hopeful optimistic vision of the future and celebration of inert gifts and abilities that result in success. it was penned in 30 minutes and it was my first time writing a poem. i felt emotionally set back while writing and wrote in tears, literally.

It says in a very different way what my 'write' A Challenged Life is saying, which especially relates to what you wrote, in the 'About this poem'.
