MEDITATION

Forgive they say.
Make a better day
for yourself.

Breath in for four.
Out for six.
You'll be fixed.

But now he
is part of me.
My history.

Forgive to heal?
Forget the pain?
Are you insane?

Lucky to be
still alive.
Survived.

Hurt heart.
Bruised soul.
Please hold.

About this poem:
To forgive is human, to forget is not divine.
It is asking a bit too much.

I love that 'asking a bit too much' and you need to remember in one way after all, so it doesn't happen again.

And I love your poem!! yay

(So sorry for your hurt heart, bruised soul - please hold reminds of one time years ago when a woman asked my husband if he would write a poem to hold her heart... and he did. A really nice thought you have there... can be taken 2 ways, too. Please hold, as in hold your heart... or please hold, as put on hold for now, cuz you're tired of being a hurt, bruised soul)

If it wasn't so late, I'd post John Lennon's Mind Games... too many going on all around...

the breath is so very powerful;
it seems capable of bringing about transformative experiences because it can take us to places and spaces within ourselves we might not otherwise go

i hope the class is meaningful for you, Jeanie rose

Jennie, hmnn a bit hard when we're hurt. I thought I have forgotten and forgiven but sometimes pain is etched so deep, it can't go away.
Take care. teddybear

Hi, JEANIEMAC,
Although forgiveness does allow for healing, by its very nature it requires remembrance. For, if one forgets, forgiveness no longer has a role to play. Thanks for sharing this questioning and reflective MEDITATION that leaves the reader with Please hold.
