I only want to see you laughing in the purple rain
Thank you for your music
Thank you for your spirit
Thank you for your respect
I bought your Purple Rain album back in 1984
When Doves Cry was my favorite song at the time
I am wearing a purple shirt to celebrate your life
I will be listening to your music every day
I am glad you made Minneapolis your home
I love many of your lyrics and Mountains says it best
It's only mountains and the sea
Love will conquer if you just believe

About this poem:

Prince died on Thursday and I've been watching and listening to everything Prince since. Dave Chapelle does a funny skit on him playing basketball and serving pancakes.

Abby1963, thanks for your comment on my poem. We have had some great music in the last 52 years. I had very little money when this explosion of great talent was going on in the 80's. Prince was one of my happier purchases with Purple Rain. I'll have to root through my albums and find the poster of him and his band.
