What If

I saw her there all alone
Talking on her phone
To whom I know not who
As I wondered what to do

Sitting waiting for a glance
As I waited for the chance
For her to end the call
So I might climb the wall

To start the talk to open the way
To say the words I needed to say
To close the void between two strangers
That might start a new adventure

Watching, waiting for my chance
For her to escape the trance
That held her tight
While I waited long that night

Then the call did come for me to go
And board my flight I had to go
I left her behind no choice of mine
So forever will I pine

Now here I am still all alone
Oh if she had just hung up the phone
I often wonder what could have been
And if she would have ever seen

Me by her waiting as she talked
As I patiently watched and walked
Around and around her as she talked
And talked and talked

About this poem:
I am in a restaurant and see people consumed with their cell phone and wondered how many opportunities are missed.

Yes technology is great but we are too involved and forget about living.
