Upon the Air of Halloween

When witches go riding
And black cats are seen,
The moon laughs throatily
'Tis near Halloween

When you're all alone in the country
And the night is dark as pitch
Just be bold 'cause you've been told
There's no such thing as a witch.

Howdy everyone, old and new! cowboyBoy, have I missed you old members! hug

I'm ReaderOfSouls for you new to the Poetry Corner. :-) I'm a Texas ranch raised, working horse and cattle ranch owner/operator who proudly served our military and I am a detective with my local County Sheriff's Department. I specialize in Child Sex Crime, so I have seen the worst of the worst and it's all gritty and grim. Having a positive, happy attitude has not only helped, but I just can't help but share it with all that I meet. I choose to not live in darkness.:-) I'm strong, tough but fair. I'm more than happy to listen to someone and my mailbox here is always open. :-) I've been writin' poetry since I was 8 years old and customarily write Cowboy Poetry. I've competed at Cowboy Gatherings and rodeos and my biggest poetry influences are Badger Clark (which also happens to be a familial name) and Baxter Black. I've been 'hitched' to my better half- Mr. Bear for 29 years now. He has written some work about love and life that I have posted through my account here. :-) I occasionally write a bit of descriptive cowboy humor as you will find in the vast catalogue of my writings. :-)

I look so forward to meeting you all and to re-connect with all of those familiar. cowboy

I think it's quite safe here ROS,
Traffic is slow but at least it's trouble free.(At the moment).
I wrote an Autumn poem recently and just like you.. it was going around in my head for ages before I wrote it down.
Happy Halloween.

Regards Mick.

Thank you, SM! I hope that you get good results from your doctor's appointment. hug I can honestly attest that black cats do not bring bad luck. :-) I have two black Manx cats and they are the sweetest things. I also have 2 white Manx cats- same sweet temperaments. :-) The black cat you saw may have been out on the prowl or heading home (hopefully). I never cared for the slasher/blood/gore and fear aspects of Halloween, but I sure do love the brilliant Fall colors, the promise of family and friend gatherings and seeing the costumes of the kids and adults out trick-or-treating or at Halloween parties. :-)

Hope your Halloween was safe and fun!

hug cowboy
