I don't see it as on the rise. What I see is more media outlets and therefore more public reporting of it.

Christian terrorism?
Breivik might have been a Christian but to do “Christian Terrorism” he might had to have killed the ones against the Christians.
Breivik had a political, a religious and a personal agenda for perpetrating those crimes.
Which element was more important than the others? That is difficult to asses at least for me. In addition to his personal believes he was in contact with people who had their very own agendas too and the sum of all those factors made him decide to strike.
Each element on its own would it been rather impossible to make him to commit the crime he did but all together did.
