I think the bar is set higher here because there are no consequences. The worst that can happen in the initial stages of online contact is you have to ignore or block that person. I worry a bit about online dating because all our senses can not be utilized to weed out the undesirables as would be in the real world.

I hope 8 months haven't made my potential performance too rusty. In real life I'm hopeless at flattery and buying flowers. It must run in the family because my sister-in-law says that if my brother bought her flowers now she would think he was having an affair. My advice is, if somebody seems interesting in the romantic way when mailing, then it would be best to try to meet as soon as possible to avoid constructing fantasies and images and get disappointed.
