islandgirl62: What's a mindmate???
Thank you for asking.
In fact this expression I first saw at this forum and I liked it. It was created by a certain woman (I beg her pardon, I forgot her nickname) who had a thread using this word. There is a soulmate, which I hope you know what means, and similar to this one there is a mindmate, meaning someone who thinks in the same way as you do, who sees things the way you do. I hope you understand.

EagleWoman: A soulmate for those who are not spiritual and don't believe in the existence of the "soul"
soulmindmate
I don't know whether it exists or not, I mean the soul, but as they say the difference between mind and soul is that soul can be incorporated and reincarnated, mind is something that lives only as such during one body's life. Next incarnation the same soul gets another body and another mind. So they say, and this is what I have understood. I don't know whether it is truth or not and if something I don't know I can't believe.

I personaly believe in the soul but I remember the forum poster who introduced the "mindmate" expression saying she didn't and that's what prompted her to think of that new expression.

Thankyou Vyoleta for the explanation - I sometimes see things on here and I really don't know what they are talking about it....
In my experience I have come across a soulmate...they are rare unfortunetly for me I wasn't his.. alas we broke up after 20+ years of marriage, and mindmate .. now that I have been blessed with... they are men that I had instant connection with, and have remained firm friends with and no these men were not friends with benefits... I refer to them as my "big brother" they are supportive, compassionate, forgiving, accepting, and they catch you when you fall...and you can talk about anything and everything...

I suppose that this people you call your "big brothers" are about your age. My question is about being a mindmate, which means to have the same opinions about life, with people who are very far from us concerning their and our age of life.

Class5: This week's catch phrase. I think it means 'compatible'.
Compatible is too general, I suppose. It can express the notion of being appropriate for each other in many senses of meaning. The phrase we are talking about relates only to the way of thinking, not to the external appearance of somebody.

To respond to your question Vyoleta, no!! my big brothers are actually older than me - some as much as 10 years older... and when you put it like that it surprises me too!!!
islandgirl62: silly quote things not working again.........grrrrrrrrr...
Yeah, I know. Since they changed the interface the quote thing messes up for me pretty often. At first I thought it was me, but on a couple of occasions I know that I did it right but it failed anyway.
vyoleta: Can a mindmate be someone much younger/older than yourself?
I'm not sure "mindmates" even exist.
Of course people can think alike. One would hope to find kindred spirits from time to time.
But the word mindmate suggests a "match", and I would guess that your intention is not merely to discuss things. So I can only interpret the question as yet another variation on the theme of "is it OK to hit on someone much older or much younger than myself"
My response to that question is proceed at your own risk. The odds are against it working out and a lot of people will assume bad intentions. But as long as it's legal it's your decision.

Ten years plus-minus is not a big age difference.
I am talking about the difference of more than 20 years.
What surprises you, excuse me, I didn't understand.

Thanks, Ray, but you are not right. My question doesn't fit into your intepretation. I don't want to hit on someone much older or younger than myself. I only met someone on the internet who had some opinions different from most of the people, but very similar to mine. And the age difference between us is more than 20 years. I was surprised to learn that someone from a distant generation in the way of thinking is much closer to me than people from my own. That's why I asked this question and poll to see if anyone else has the similar experience.
