I don't have time to baby sit them so just hand out a five and forget about it. I hope they use it for food but am more than certain they don't but, I don't know that and, my job was to help and I do to the best of my ability.

Well Alberta it only take 5 min. out of life to grab from coffee shop and give...then to possibly be aiding their addictions.

Well pop, I don't have time to go to a coffee shop myself much less take time to do it for a stranger because I don't trust their intentions. I prefer to just hand them a bill as I fly.

actually, either way you'll aid their Addiction! Whether you give them Money or Food¨. Give them Food, they'll have more Funds available for their Drug of Choice, giving the Money, same Result! Been there,Done that,on both sides of the Fence!

This is true in some aspects..dont know about there but where I live there are the"usuals" for a better word..there are also people that are in need that the system has dropped the ball with no room in shelters....would like to think not all are addicts..As one that I have helped couple of times now works for the coffe shop I go to....so sometimes there is a happy ending Conrad

yes,some-time there is a happy ending,though rarely!
A woman approached me asking for change and all I had was a twenty and I walked passed her. She approached my sister and gave her the story, when my sister got in the car she told me all the woman wanted was enough money for eggs and potatoes to feed her and her sisters kids. My sister said she knew how the woman felt when she herself had been hungry without food or money. As we drove away I stoped and gave the woman the twenty. Because of my sweet sister, I will do what I can, when I can.
Sometimes. From time to time I will get a strong feeling that I should help (a particular) person. No one can really fully "tell" if someone is going to use the money inappropriately, so if I give, I remind myself that it is my giving that is important, not whether or not they will be prudent. It's a tough call, but sometimes people DO really need the bus fare, or gasoline, or something a food bank/social service office can't or doesn't give. I say go ahead, of you are able, but be a good steward of your donation, and therefore a good steward of their needs, as well. JMO
