can you see a untied Ireland ,, many moons from now?
I want one. But all recent border polls say it aint going to happen. Marty McG from the quislings (the dissident groug SF) was dammed if he did and dammed if he didn't.

it won't happen soon or in our life time, but can you see it happen in a 1000 year from now?

I can seriously see it in my life time but there has to more efford put in to the political process instead of silly gestures like handshakes. And the South have to sort out their finances aswell otherwise it wont be possible. This is what DATA from Start Trek reckons (he said 2024)
Phoenix: Pedro didn't you learn Irish history at school?
phoenix you would be amazed at how many people think that, i know plenty of people who think the war of independence was when england tried to take over ireland
Basically a few years after the 1916 rising someone in an office drew a squiggly line through parts of Ulster and called it the Northern State. And thought it was good idea.

i will write a formal letter to the house of parliment, stating we want our land back. signed pedro
I have always felt that the extremists on the loyalist side were even more fanatical than the extremists on the republican side so I don't think we would have a united Ireland anytime soon without some bloodshed.
MADDOG69: I'm a pragmatist. I wouldn't like the North added on to the South while it remains a basket case.
Kettle, pot & black spring to mind Maddog. The main reason why the people in the north don't what a united Ireland is simply money. The see the south as a bankrupt country (like Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy<--only they're cooking the books to keep their head above water).
Other than that. The North has the same bread & butter issues as anywhere else (I'm not fogetting armed republicans, they haven't gone away you know)

Run it past someone before you send it out.
BTW Pedro, I brought this up before with you. How can you say you want a United Ireland, when you haven't even visited the North, and even indicated that you wouldn't want to? I can understand those sentiments about Cork for example.

We will see a United Fedral Europe before we see a United Ireland. Catholics currently make up 40% of the population.
Thats up from about 30% 50 years ago. So the stats say over 50% will be catholic in 50 years time. But will those catholics want to be part of the Republic at that time. It will depend on our economy, the UK economy and social factors that we just can't predict at this time.

deep down Maddog, every true Irish person would like the head of our teddy bear back from british rule. teddy bear meaning the shape of ireland looks like a teddy bear

Thats not true. Most prorestants don't want to be part of the republic as they consider themselves British! They like the link with the crown and London. They are proud of their protastant heritage and their links with the UK and want to keep that no matter what.
They don't want to be part of this banana republic and who could blame them.
the question is would the north actually like to be part of the IMF run republic???? Plus, albeit 15yrs ago, when I lived in Belfast, I was called a traitor on more than one occasion. And told that only the true irish people lived in the north as we(those who lived in the republic) abandoned them almost 100yrs ago!!!!

would you agree?
It's a romantic idea Pedro. One I also had. But romanticism achieves little.

Well you can't argue with that. The usual I'm all right Jack attitude as soon as we in the 26 counties got our free state.

How many times have you crossed the border into the north? You want it to be part of a United Ireland so I am presuming you have travelled the length and breath of the entire Ireland in coming to your opinion on this matter??? And if you havent....then why not????

Protestants in the North just need to be re-educated about Irish history and exactly what Britiannia did to the people of Ireland (North & South). A lot of ex loyalist political prisioners speak Irish, have Irish passports and see themselves as Irish protestants.
The middle class farmer (where the money is within unionism) don't want the break.
Going back to educating the protestants in the North. By and large they are like lemmings when I comes to politics. Look at their reaction to the sigining of the Anglo-Irish agreemnt in 1985. Or ask yourself why did the majority of them vote against the GFA. Simple education.
Phoenix: Unionists just need to be re-educated. And that means intergrated schooling and none of the revisionist history that some people are taught. The bearded one (the Louth TD is good at that too).
Wolfetone had it right when he said something like this..
"To subvert the tyranny of our execrable government, to break the connection with England, the never failing source of all our political evils, and to assert the independence of my country--these were my objects. To unite the whole people of Ireland, to abolish the memory of all past dissentions, and to substitute the common name of Irishman, in the place of the denominations of Protestant, Catholic, and Dissenter--these were my means."
i don't it's as simple as that, who are we to tell them they are wrong, the fact is that a very large minority on our island want to retain the queen as head of state and if we are to have a united ireland we will have to accept that
it's irish land, just because they call it part of the uk, that does not mean its theres, the island of ireland is serprate, it has sea all around, it our land not theres.
