I am talking about in the romantic sense... Not friends, family or children... These words mean a lot to me. What length of time would you have to be involved with someone to say these words to them? Would you reserve these words for the love of your life? Or are they words you just throw around haphazardly?
I believe that if we are open to the experience we fall in love with multiple partners throughout the course of our lives. How soon does someone fall in love? That depends on the individuals involved and their emotional maturity plus their degree of faith and belief in love. It's alot easier to be in the grasp of something if you are wholeheartedly susceptible to it. When I feel I have taken the plunge and fallen in love with another I don't hesitate to voice those three magical words, "I love you!". But when I am bold enough and sure enough to say it I am committed to it and steadfast with it. I don't falter or hesitate.

Its kinda difficult to say these words and really mean it and without any expectations ...

I have said it because I did feel it from my heart.
Even though I did think I had not expectations –when in love- I did and I was expecting to be loved in the same way, with honesty and respect for our relationship.
Love is not finite so, there must be more in my heart to share.

I think the phrase is anecdotal and ego driven anymore. If there's no love for 'us', all those self centered affectations do little to sate anyone, so it becomes haphazard.

I'd rather have that special man FEEL the "I love you" than the SAY "I love you" - talk is cheap and can be manipulative.
of course if he's wearing a kilt.... all bets are off.
