Mental health issues are a subject which is very dear to my heart and something I feel people are still not open enough about and those who have no personal experience of it, be it themselves or a friend/family member, can be uninformed of the facts. And at times, view those who suffer from it rather harshly.
SO...how do you feel with regards to those suffering from mental health issues?
I am giving fair warning, that I will ban anyone who tries to turn this into a 'cruel women' 'poor men' or 'the system favours women' thread.
This is not the thread for that. It is to highlight this issue and maybe help shed some light into understanding it or maybe viewing it in a different manner.

My choice is 'Its an illness like any other that needs treated'
I also would like to vote 'I'd never date someone suffering from that'

Been there done that.
I choice would be the same as yours. However I differ on what you would also like to vote that you would never date someone suffering from it. As it is an illness and can be treated, most mental health issues can be dealt with to where they not longer become and issue....and can become just something someone had once. Other mental health issues are more long term and serious, needing constant or repeated care and attention.
It a funny illness.....as if you broke your leg or had cancer.....you would automatically go to the doctor...get help and use the help out there......BUT with a mental illness unfortunately there is still a stigma attached to it in some peoples eyes and therefore they dont look for help, nor do they get the right help. It is also something that it takes time to get over, and in this fast world or ours, people want quick fixes and they just dont work.
some say, schizophrenia is the modern day lepersory, like a country no one wants to visit schizophrenia has a bad name jue to the media and public views, there all sweep with the same brush.

one of my best friends at college suffered from schizophrenia. We lived in the same house for a year too. It was tough at times. He was super super intense the vast majority of the time with occasional light moments. And the used to disappear mid sentence and not be seen again for a few days. But usually if there was an issue with his medication. That would be tough to deal with. But he was a sweetheart of a guy too.
I think a lot of people associate it with people hearing voices or having manic split personalities. Like a lot of things, people see the worst case scenario and attach that to everyone.

did you ever have a nightmare ? well that is slightly like psychosis, except you can't snap out of psychosis ontil it runs its course.
psych means mind or soul, and osis is means state, so its mind/soul state, the word orgin is greek, mental disorders have been around since time began.

No all mental health issues are permanent and with the right treatment and recognising the early symptons, then in my opinion, it could fall into the category of.......its something someone had once upon a time.
How would i know if you have it or not?? i don't know you...was just a question because you seem to know a lot about it and have obviously looked it up...
Moving on...
My opinion on mental health all depends on the diagnosis, you can't just have an opinion on all mental health issues, some are slight and others are a lot more severe so it all depends on the seriousness of the illness, what's being done about it and how much it affects that person in every day life...
