There should be freedom of choice on the picture issue, pictures can be exchanged at a later stage. although I personally show my picture, I respect other peoples choice.

Of course it's a person's choice. No argument there.
Personally, I like to associate a photo with the mail. It gets especially tricky, if you correspond with someone and you find what they write appealing, but when you see the person later, there is simply no attraction. So then your mail takes you in one direction, expectations and hope arise inevitably and then comes perhaps a disappointment.
Even in the middle ages, when marriages were arranged for political/monetary reasons among the wealthy and powerful, women were presented with a painted portrait of the suitor because nobody would expect them to even enter negotiations if they found the image unappealing.

I don't post a photo and that's my personal choice, although I do have a reason. I would like to hope that someone would take the chance on getting to know me not based on how I look. So much is hung up on appearance these days. Yes, I do agree there has to be some form of attraction but too much is based on it. I am more interested in a person's personality.
As for pot I've never tried it and never will..it's just not for me.

I think that choosing on the basis of personality is ideal. That is how it should be. I also agree that too much emphasis is placed on appearance these days and that not all photos are created equal (meaning the 20 year old ones). Still, there is the ideal and there is reality. Most men ultimately choose on the basis of looks first and foremost. If the personality is also good, then they hit the jackpot, but I believe that men think it is easier to find a woman with a good personality than it is to find a good looking one. Just m.o. of course.

to post or not to post the million dollar question. I personally like people to see what I look like. I respect other people who choose not to put up their picture. Besides, some dishonest people don't even put up their own picture instead putting a picture up of someone else.
As for pot. Not into it.not fussed about people using it either.

I heard a statistic recently that an ugly man who puts a photo in his profile is 4 times more likely to get a response on a dating site than a man with no photo claiming to be rich and handsome.
If that's true, then it's a bit of a no-brainer really.

Picture is important............chat will just get an inroad. Ifya don´t measure up in the photo..........it´s a no-go. Why waste time?????????? I don´t get it!!!!!!!!! If yer serious about finding someone.....ya gotta be upfront.
As for smoking pot............I´ve never done it, but I like a drink of wine. I actually am not associated with many who do smoke it either.

I did that and CS removed it. Technically it's against the Rules.
I think I probably ticked somebody off in a thread and they reported me for have a sunset as my pic.
I have a pic of what I look like in my group of pics so I'm there if somebody wants to see what I look like.
I wish CS wasn't so strict about posting pics of dogs, flowers or something funny. It's a free site so we have to go along with what the boss says but it makes no sense cause people get away with it unless someone reports them.
