misterprefect: North Korea.I personally view the next war as between Japan and China. Tensions are mounting over those islands and fishing lanes.
Trouble is, Japan's military budget is limited by law to small percentage of their GDP. And they have only a minimum self-defense capacity. They couldn't possibly mount any sort of war against China at the present time.
The massive militarization necessary for such a war would face overwhelming opposition by the Japanese people. The process of such a radical transformation, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event––like a new 911.
