I don't know how to understand your request. The ideal Miss (Universe) wins a man's heart. If you say that women are only interested in money, then I say that men are only interested in the looks of a woman.

So you show up for a date with a bouquet of money in your hands I think it would be offensive!! And showing up naked would be right up there too as offensive, so no on that too Ali!!

Right, that way for sure she gets the right flowers and candy she likes! and takes the decision complications out of it for us guys! Uh huh!, yeah sure!
Susanne1: Is this some kind of American thing? I don't want either, I just want to have a good time.
Dear Susanne in the USofA since when ever it began, this has been the tradition that the prospective boyfriend brings flowers and or candy too the perspective girlfriend too win her over i am just trying to see how modern love may have changed here!.
(psst and let you know just trying too save a few bucks too) oh that was brillant!
It doesn't need to be candy or flowers ...but some small token given with thought. I once was given a card ...it was a Disney Card with all the Princess's on it...and enclosed were Princess Stickers....and a cute note. I thought THAT was great :)

Flowers put me in mind of a stalker leaving them on my doorstep time and time again at stupid o'clock in the night, setting the dog off and waking me and my daughter up.
I was also once bought a bottle of perfume that cost enough to feed a family for a week and smelled like chemical waste to me. (I gave it to friend when she was feeling very low and she was chuffed to bits with it, smell and all, so it didn't go to waste).
Somebody once picked a wild flower and produced it out of nowhere to me and it made me all quivery lipped and emotional.
Its not the gift per se, its the sentiments behind the gift and that includes being sensitive to the person you're giving the gift to. I doubt there's a general consensus regarding gifts on a first date and it does seem a bit odd to me that gifts should win love.
I recently had both given to me on a date and I just thought it was sweet and romantic which Im sure was the intent. Why does everything have to have hidden meaning? Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar
