OkieChic: I scared to even try anything here...all I hear is scammers, scammers scammers...lol, so why even try
A dating site is a tool. Its up to you how you use it.
If you recognise the scammers, I suggest you block and delete and think no more about them, other than to laugh at some of the funny things they come out with.
There are plenty of lovely people on this site, but I'd recommend the best way to interact is to get to know people naturally. The facilities like the forums/blogs etc. are good for this. Focus on making friends and enjoying yourself, learn what you can, impart your knowledge and opinions and take the attitude that if someone comes along who you click with, that's a bonus.
A long, long time ago, in a version of the internet far, far away...there was me. And now...there's us.
IF this is to work for anyone, limits have to be flexible, as from Ohio to Oregon and back to Ohio has this journey through space time has taken me, and us...I am not on this site for a relationship anymore, as that part of the equation has been simplified.
I stand as a testimony that this site can work...if you have an open mind, and are not geographically prejudiced.

Good luck. May the force [of love] be with you.
that is a wonderful story and ending...Congrats! I do suppose it takes a lot of nerve to make that first inital move to someone out of state, meaning the first meeting and all...bet that was nerve wrecking/exciting....that would be the scariest part is meeting for the first time...thanks for the uplifting story :)

I know someone who moved from Scotland/Ireland, can't remember which, to be with the man she loved in New York. After a lengthy stay with him they married and are living happily ever after.
So it does work if you want it to work. But you can't think it's going to happen overnight. It takes patience and putting yourself in the forums and blogs like Jac suggested.
You'll get a lot of scammers because you're pretty. Just delete and block them. When you're least expecting it you're knight in shining armour will show up..

Boy and I thought just going from state to state would be nerve wrecking, but from country to country....WOW
Well, I suppose get use to seeing me in forums then :)
OkieChic: Just wondering, how do you make friends on this site? Seems pretty complicated
Pretty much like anywhere else. You have to put yourself out there. There was a time when I posted a lot of my poetry in the forums, long before they made a special area for it.
It attracted many admirers and friends. So my advice is, play to your strengths, whatever they may be.
I don't post so much anymore. Trying to cut down. I'm on a diet.

you seem like a very intelligent, informative woman, don't be surprised if I ask you advise in the future about people or other things I may find confusing....Nice to meet you! Thanks again for the advise!
