i have always had a dog as a pet for as long as i can recall . :) i would never choose to live without a dog around when facilities are available. i love their company for so many reasons.
i prefer their company to many people and often turn down meeting up with someone just so that i can go off for a walk with the dog. lol. fields, beach, mountains, parks, ,,just the 2 of us.
i turned down a request to go to a party today because i had planned on going to the beach with the dog. its about a 4 hour round drive away, and a couple hours spent in the area bout 6hours. i was looking forward to it .
however, i didnt tell person why in case be offended. some people mightent like the idea that you choose to be with the dog over them on occasions.
Like yourself, i wouldn't be witout my two. True, you know you can rely on them every time to be there for company and amusment. A damn good deterrant to would be burglers, great with kids, characters in their own right, but dogs all the same. I'd never forsake my two for a relationship in the offering, anyone thinking that would not be anyone i would want to know.

I think a single person who own a dog is really telling the world I've tried to find love with another human but it didn't work..now I have a dog as a substitute
I wouldn't be without my dogs or any of my other animals, I dont see them as a substitute for anything. iv had dogs all my life and as far as im concerned a house isn't a home unless there's a dog there to greet you. if someone didn't accept the fact iv got animals then they aren't the person for me

Agreed, but lets keep that to ourselves, life and love failures that we are! (supposedly)...

Surely though there is a difference between loving your pet and actually putting it before human relationships?
I dont mean ignore or mistreat the pet in anyway, simply that to say you would turn down a social occasion to go for a walk with a dog is just weird.

not really, i've always had dogs and they are part of who i am, if a human wants to become part of my life they will have to accept that, if they dont its simply; NEXT

So you put going for a walk with the dog ahead of going to a party?

I understand this bit! I have a cat and I adore him...I am not going to have a relationship with a guy who hates/is afraid of/is allergic to cats! That bit is simple and quite normal I reckon.
However not going out because you would rather walk your dog or stay at home playing with your cat is freaky in my books

i often turn down soc occasion and go for walk with dog.
i attend soc occasions if i dont happen to be taking my dog for a walk. lol . or other reasons.
thing is if on OCCASION... .if rather take dog for a walk , (with no offence to anyone) its best not to mention it perhaps because the person may not like it and go off on one.
they might even accuse ya of being weird or something. lol
know a woman who gives out to her partner because he give some of his time /attention to the dog. they have a close bond and the dog be around him. when the dog jump on his lap and he be petting the dog on the chair,...she be giving out stink.
u have more time for that damn dog than u have for me ,..she be sayin. lol. (it not true he plenty time for both a them.)
he be doin no wan any harm but he get roasted for his time with dog.
i say if she asked him to go somewhere and he said nah.. ..im gone for a walk with the dog instead, he be found strung up..lol
he would defo have to say he was doin something else.

never said anything about turning down social occasions for the dog all I said was if someone doesn't like animals then they aren't gonna be the one for me. I work with animals all day and then come home to all of my own so my life pretty much revolves around animals, if someone can't accept that or thinks its weird then we aren't gonna get along plain and simple.
