Yes, we have been watching up here, and sending stuff,....government servers were re-roted today through Winterpeg because Cowtown was udderly flooded. I thought 2005 was wild! I haven't remembered anything like this before! This is that 100 year historic event one designs culverts for,....oops,....this is truly significant! Weird,....Fort MacMurray is just recovering,....now Calgary,....and the highway closures are stunning! And to think.....I am moving LG out here July 4th,....ya know in time for the Stampede,....and the Water Buffalo riding event!
Take care my fellow Albertan. I have chest waders and a bailing pail at the ready!

Since the water level is up to the 10th row of seats, you might want to invest in some scuba gear.
Waterbearer63: Used to haul tanker truck loads of chemicals to the pulp mill up there. The day before I was scheduled to deliver a supertanker load there, the fire started and I didn`t get to do my delivery.Dispatcher was worried I might not make it back to the city.Losing that run lost me over $900.00 in wages for that trip.
That was indeed a miserable fire.....still under investigation! Which mill? Were you solo, contract, or mill employee?
A_Non_A_Moose: Probably passed you many a time on the Highway,...hell,....ever stop in at the truck stop by Fawcett? LOL! Couldn't miss me.....I wear a uniform.
Da Moose (aka Marvin)
Never stopped at Fawcett, schedule was too tight.I always carried a thermos in my rig.
I hope the rain lets up! I wanna go Stampeding this year!
We just had a good downpour here about 2 hours ago. There`s a flood watch for the North Saskatchewan river but I`m a long way and a lot higher ground than that so I`m fine.

I live about an hour north of you,...just a shower,...and at work the Athabasca River is high,...but not in an way threatening,....typical Alberta weather,...give it 5 minutes and the hail should start!

My dad used to say if you don`t like the weather in Alberta, wait 5 minutes and it`ll change. Can`t count how many times I`ve actually seen it happen.
A_Non_A_Moose: RCMP have it as an arson investigation.
If it is arson, I wouldn`t want to be the fool when they catch him.I don`t know the total cost of the fire but I imagine it`s in the hundreds of millions if not over a billion.
Waterbearer63: The city of Calgary which is about 180 miles south of Edmonton,Alberta,Canada has suffered a very serious flood.A large part of the city is under water and there are tens of thousands who can`t go home.If this happened to your town or city and your home was not in the flood zone, would you open your home to strangers so they could have a warm place to stay?.
Absolutely! I would welcome their pets also. I would help any way I could, not just by providing shelter, warm meals, showers and clean clothes, for as long as they needed me.
It is a risk you take when you bring strangers in to your home. Some people will just take advantage of your kindness. You just have to keep your fingers crossed that you are helping the one's who truly appreciate your help.

I've been through there many times too, were you that "lot lizard" that was having a hard time walking in heels through the mud?
langleygirl: Think its the least that anyone can do for others as it could be "you" in the same position as some point.
Just hoping that Venusenvy is doing ok as well, as I believe that she was residing in the Calgary area.

Yes I would in a heartbeat.I've been down and out myself at one time or another and know all to well how that felt.
