Here ya go! I don't find it new worthy. Just kinda sad how the world is going to politically correct its self to death.
I would like to live in a diverse world, sadly if we continue to walk around on egg shells we are going to create the wrong kind of diversity. People are human. Name one of us who has not sinned. And don't tell a lie that's sinning

My daughter came home from school one day using the N-word. I had to explain to her that it was swearing and it didn't matter if the other kids said it, or anyone else thought it was okay, it wasn't. She could say any expletive she liked in the house, under her own roof, but not outside and not racial slurs even in the house.
My mum once used the word 'Negerling'. I pointed out to her that her perception of it referring to an attractive black child, might not be how it would be received, or interpreted by others. She took that on board fairly sharpish.
I think political correctness has a role to play and a positive function, I detest prejudice, but I'm wondering what the background to this is. I'm wondering if she's really been outrageous enough in the past for it to be justified that she's made an example of, or whether its a bit like sacking someone because they came home from school saying a rude word when they were six.
Without the details, we would be guilty of prejudice.
Ocee102: I'd want to know how long ago this happened.
I'd want to know in who's company it happened.
I'd want to know the context it was used in.In other words NO, I'm not ready to throw a 66 year old woman under a bus because she admits that some time a long time ago she used a racial slur.
I've been thinking about this for a couple of days now. The late night comedey shows have used it for joke material, etc... After all is said and done, if I had to make a decision right now, today, I tend to agree with you. Nobody's perfect; what about all the names/implications for many of us? You are right, one false step, or even several, do not necessarily define the whole person, and everyone deserves a chance to re-think, re-evaluate, and learn from experiences, without it being a permanent bad mark. We're all just people, and no one is completely right all the time. Give her a break.
