I'd rather have my best friend outside the relationship. I need a world where my partner barely exists, a different perspective, a different circle. If he too is my best friend, then it limits a lot of things.
Ideally, I would like to be able to have two best friends but since that's not the question I'd rather my best friend not be my partner because I want to ask my friend advice on relationship issues and such. I can't turn to my partner and ask him his advice on a relationship issue we are having, now can I, lol.

Change the question, change the label, change the definition of the label, but don't change the best of friends, whichever roles they fulfil.

Basically, it is very necessary that you and your partner have been building true and real friendship...it is then that a certain relationship will be successful for you are bond with understanding each other as a person with character and not only as lovers that is usually using its emotion as the only factor of the relationship....

Question is: should your best friend outside the relationship be male or female. For me it is best that she be female.
Why shouldn't my guy be my cause my guy be my best friend.
He saw me through some tough times in my life and was a strong shoulder to cry/lean on when people who I thought to be my best friend turned their backs on me.

Well you tell me why you prefer your best friend to be female? I prefer that she be female so that she can give me some advice on the way women think, etc.

Lonely1: My female friend has told me that I am way out in left field, based on something I shared about my daughter, so yes, female friends give more valuable feedback about other women TO MEN.
Yup, that works for me with my male friends as well.
It could happen, yeah. Or maybe it doesn't. I think it's important though for either side to have a few good friends outside the relationship. It keeps things healthy and lets that person have a good frame of reference. The WORST thing you can do is loose friends because of a relationship by ignoring them and not spending enough time with them... That's how bad things happen also. Domestic Violence and other manipulations all start with one side removing family and friends from their partners reach. So they have no one to turn to and no one to consult.
Lonely1: That's a question only you can answer. Most women prefer female best friends so she can tell them how bad hubby is in bed
My best friend was male, he is deceased now but I spoke with him openly as he did with me. I was never embarrassed by our conversations and was very comfortable with him. We were completely platonic.
NO,i disagree on this, kept them separate but also bring them together and then step away watch what takes place and u then hae a good reading on both lol *

shubhrank: really? have u ever thinks why women r jealous with womens, its a mystery nd i thinks God cn tell the real answer...
I can't answer that. I suppose they must be insecure and unhappy within themselves? I'm not saying ALL women would do that but I DON'T TAKE ANY CHANCES!
