MADDOG69: I remember I had a heated argument with a Blackfoot French-Jew about that and his hypocrisy about some other subject. Probably about Israel... He seemed bitter...
Yes, the "Pieds Noirs". They treated the Algerian as inferior being and used to the good life. They had the backing of the army. But they had a hatred of De Gaulle after he gave them their independence. Many French emigrated there in the 1800, many Alsatians from what I've seen. I had an ancestor moving there in 1842, a clock maker.
This man's life can explain a lot about recent history. I saw him in documentaries about the plot against De Gaulle.
"Hélie de Saint Marc who has died aged 91, was a French résistant during the war before being arrested and deported to Buchenwald; having survived the camp he joined the Foreign Legion, fighting for 15 years in Indo-China, Suez and Algeria before taking part in an attempted coup to overthrow Charles de Gaulle."
chris27292729: 6 months, Barbarossa was delayed not 3,Italians attacked on Oct 1940 and the Germans invaded on April 1941.
Germans were planning to attack mid May... they were delayed by less than 6 weeks. The main reason for the delay was preparing and fighting the battle of Crete, which was a costly mistake on their part. Except for some limited Greek forces and the civilians, there were British, Australian and Kiwi troups defending the island.
The Mongol Empire existed during the 13th and 14th centuries, and was the largest contiguous land empire in human history. Beginning in the Central Asian steppes, it eventually stretched from Eastern Europe to the Sea of Japan, covering large parts of Siberia in the north and extending southward into Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Iranian plateau, and the Middle East.
After all the comments I read things that I didn't read before on history books, especially about "Le Resistance", Europe still a time bomb waiting to be ignited. Are we closed to another European disaster? Anyway wars are the natural remedy for human kind to keep control to over population. Imagine this planet without WW1 and WW2, right now we would be fighting over food to stay alive. The only country that has managed to deal with their over populated land is China, but for how long, everything has its end in this world. I'm just saying.

Clearly the Royal Air Force and the Royal Naval forces. The United Kingdom then called Great Britain. The most powerful naval force in world (since the spanish armada) at the time until the US took the title after WW2. With the strongest AF also at that that time (pre WW2).
Conrad73: A,ha, recently, you couldn't resist anymore the international presure,so you were forced to give in.Also there is still money and valuables in Swiss banks from WW2, i wondered after how many decades, money+valuables, become the property of the Swiss banks???
