HotrodLarrys: Funny thought I had today. What do you do, If every Relationship you were ever in Failed!
None of us would be on CS! It nearly took a genius to think of that! What is wrong with us?
I'm not sure that 'failed' is the way to view previous relationships. We are always changing and learning about ourselves, each other and life..and you may grow in different directions or apart or discover that what you wanted has changed - that's not failure but growth. It's only where you fail to take the time to evaluate yourself, your conduct in a previous relationship and/or don't grow or learn from it that you can say you 'failed'.
SoonerGal: Do you personally know Larry? Have you ever met him in person? How do you know he's not some crazed serial killer running loose in Missouri? The purpose of CS doing it would be security, at least some form of it...not like we're on a local site where most are within a couple hundred miles of each other and you can get in your vehicle and flee....common sense has a lot to play on this...but people shouldn't be saying yes when they really mean no either...
I have spoken to Larry on the telephone a few times..... of course, I might be the crazed serial eater err killer running loose.....

Yeah, there is a risk involved in a meeting but no more than on a real life date where you might think you know the person but they can turn out to be something altogether different. I would attend if it was held somewhere in Europe (was in the US this year and the 16hr flight was a killer). A venue for the get-together is all that is needed, everyone should sort out their own accommodation, flights etc. Surely a couple of hours spent with CS members is not much to sacrifice if you make it part of a holiday?

Hi LD, that is true that there is risk in meeting anyone, anywhere...but if I'm going to run into a crazed person I want to spend the least amount of money possible oh wow 16 hr! and I thought the 8 hr flight to Hawaii was bad one day I will make it to Europe, that's always been in my bucket list

morning, LadyDiz!
I went to the get-together in Glasgow in 2010 - it was wonderful - meet a lot of great folk who traveled from Ireland and south UK - I wish I go every year.
It really depends on the group a CSer's who are the local tour guides for the event and the venue -
I would do one here in Miami - however, I think it is a younger persons kind of thing, here - and rather an expensive town - although a three day event that included a cruise -
I also met a lovely lady on this site, she was taking a cruise, she stayed with me until her ship left - and we had a very nice time. I didn't have any American men to introduce her to - but we saw some of the local sites here that I would never have enjoyed as tourist before.

Hiya Yes, I would see such a get-together as more of a meeting of friends than potential lovers. Europe would be great - we could fit in several countries, especially the ones where kilts are the order of the day.

Very True LadyDiz Success come from failure... Some of the Most Successful people in the World Failed, only to get back on the horse again and again...Until they succeed...And yes we do Learn along the way...( hopefully) As long as we are breathing, we are learning...I have Learned many Lessons in this life, And I still keep Hope alive!
HotrodLarrys: I Would like to go to one, about 4 years ago, I set up one and with a CS Get Together thread, about 50 people Signed up, said they would come to one in Missouri, as it was centrally Located in the United states..
I went through a lot of efforts, got Motel Rates posted, and had a Place to Meet, With Bars and Restaurants all within Walking Distance, as the days got closer, it got down to about 4-5 people...
At that point....I Canceled the whole thing, and only Wasted My time, Gas, Phone calls, and Posting it all... I went to Great Efforts...
Sad to say, but this was My Result! Unless Some Pretty Woman Posts for one, Good Luck..
I remember that Larry, you certainly did put a great deal of effort into organising the meet. If I remember rightly, the meet up thread ran well over fifty pages, but as has happened on here before, the meet just fizzled out. There was a meet in Missouri organised a couple of years before which had many people signed up to it. The meet up thread for that ran for many months with lots of positivity and a promising turnout. I was even tempted myself to make the journey and look up an old friend of mine in Missouri. As it happened, as far as I could make out, around five people turned up much to the dismay of the person who organised it.

Hello bodleing, Yes You were here when that thread went on...
and yes I do believe it was close to 50 pages,
But Prior to getting that sign up thread, again, has to be a Pre thread to ever even get a sign up thread... I Have over 14,000 posts on CS so to find that thread could take hours..

I would like to go to one if it were Successful!
It might have been more than fifty pages, I know the Missouri meet thread almost reached a hundred pages. The most successful meets on here were in Dublin, but there are a disproportionate amount of Irish members on here...not entirely sure why that should be, but that's always been the case. The Benidorm meet was well attended also, one that I really wish I could have made it to.
.....hi all....I would love to go to one...just for the enjoyment.....of seeing most of you...whom I have spoken to but have never meet.....over the years....or recent.......pete.

Torless: well Malta would have been a nice warm choice for sure....So it was an Ire meet? Was it good? They seem to organise a few..
The Irish Dublin meets are well attended, it's just in retrospect I would much rather have had 4 more days in Malta with the girlfriend.
The fact that i thought i payed for a bed, then got a sofa because i didn't ensure i got a bed soured my weekend.
It's just the same on each thread though, people used to say were attending, then never showed up. Some people flew in from the US, Europe, Scandanavia, and yet others didn't show up.
Everyone had a good night out in Dublin (you cannot fail to have a relaxed night out in Dublin) but my experience was i wouldn't do it again, just to say hello. I'd rather make a weekend of it in Dublin, and see people i wanted to see, and stop by at a do, rather than make it the reason for my trip.
