However, ‘an eye for an eye’ and ‘turn the other cheek’ is a complete contradiction of God’s Law, regardless of the context in which either was given IN A SENSE because they both appear in the same book/Holy Bible. Because it makes one wonder! If biblical laws must be re-evaluated as the world progresses and people and technology evolve (and that is the supposed justification for such a contradiction or contradictions), why must we then hang on to even Christ’s teachings two thousand years later? Surely they need a reappraisal also in accordance with the same justification Omega gives? And what is more vehemently apposed nowadays than a reappraisal of anything biblical!

Which of Gods laws is it in complete contradiction with ? The Philosophers (your so called gods)text also show contradictions as you clearly refutted me ( ref wiki quotes)

Check your source material here Ray. I think Jesus said "I come not to change the law, but to fulfil it"
Kind of a difference there

And yet we are told that Christ did not come to change the Old Testament laws but enforce them?

THE PHRASE IS TO FULFILL THEM

EYE FOR AN EYE WAS TO THE JEWS AND THEM ALONE
TURN THE OTHER CHEEK HAS MANY MORE MEANINGS AND IS A TRADITION BASED SAYING YOU WOULD HAVE TO HAVE SOME IDEA OF THE TRADITIONS IN JEWISH CULTURE TO UNDERSTAND THE FULL MEANING OF THIS.

Look at it this way ray:

If Shoopenhiemer had known you as a 3 year old he would have told you to stop making doody in your diaper. Now you are more mature he could impart more important information to you.

In the Old Testament God was dealing with a toddler Israel, In the New Testament he was dealing with a nation mature enough to understand

- my view, now that I have started, would be that He would be totally abhorrent of the ways his teachings have been misinterpreted and abused over the 1720 yrs or so since the first council of nicea decided on what Jesus 'should' represent to the people

I have to agree strongly with you on this point, it seems he was disgusted with the way the religious people and the governments of his day had things figured out, I don't see where that has changed in the interim. thumbs up

Wise knave of knaves!. That is a good thing to tell toddlers. If your eye is plucked out, pluck out an eye! If someone causes you to loose a tooth, cause THEM to loose a tooth.

Human, all too human. Tut-tut. scold

It is good that after they were told to take a tooth for a tooth they became mature enough to understand not to, and instead, to turn the other cheek. frustrated doh

In the Old Testament God was dealing with a toddler Israel, In the New Testament he was dealing with a nation mature enough to understand

The New Testament, was written for the world and excluded much of the cultural idiosyncrasys of the Jewish nation, per Christs teachings, though his teaching was replete with jewish religious culture,he also taught directly in opposition to that which did not hold to the spirit of the law.

Those in power today ( religious, or governmental ) Are doing the same as was done when Christ walked the earth.
aren't these then the same entities that rule (own) the religious, political, cultural and the educational entities in our world.
In that day common folk were able to discern truth from fiction, if they searched it out , I believe we are no less able than they.
