My hackles have just gone up at the lazy jibe. There could be many reasons why someone doesn't have formal employment, or a consistent wage.
Women have traditionally worked their arses off for long enough as carers without getting a formal wage that we should be able to work some of this stuff out for ourselves.
Is a person's only value measured by a paper exchange system?
If I both need and have enough income for two people, then everything's fine as far as I'm concerned.

Well income is one thing and how two people spend it is a good thing to look at as a couple. Its the way to go in the long run. Have fun when young and try to survive comfortably when old. The game plan

chatonlyman2: HL Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
Well Howdy dear!
Merry Christmas to you also!
As for the prosperous New Year... I live in the U.S. where we are robbed by our government so I do not foresee financial gain but if spirituality counts for anything, I am RICH!

Cyn_Real: In some places, losers are not that popular... No girl will date them, emasculated modern men...
So, you're saying that men who are sick, maybe disabled, full-time fathers, carers, have been made redundant, or maybe have a zero hours contract amongst other things, aren't manly? They're losers?
nano1963: wudnt give him money whatever bout working, wudnt want a lazy guy though
He may not be necessarily lazy just because he's not working.
Jobs are hard to find. If he was my spouse or significant other and temporarily out of work I would definitely keep the bills paid and give him money for gasoline and personal items but NOT cigarettes.
If he doesn't look for work then there would be hell to pay.

Nice attitude, Cyn.
I only gave opinion to "lazy" men, not sick/disable men or fulltime fathers... I think it refers to some guys that are healthy and don't have other reason for not working... Correct me if I am wrong !!!

If there were no laziness mentioned in OP question, my answer would be different... There is no physical disability information about the guy she is talking about anyways...

My apologies, Cyn. I was confused by the thread title.
How often do you think it happens that people don't work merely out of laziness?
How often do you think that people are mislabelled as lazy when actually they have something else going on, like they're out of work, or sick, or something?
Would we call a woman lazy if she was a home maker and her partner earned enough for both of them?
@jac how often do u think people don't work merely out of laziness?
quite often Jac.many young healthy able lads round my place that would rather stand about selling grass/collecting benefits than do a day's work...that is fact.
Complex question.....I guess it all depends on the situation. If I am in a relationship and he loses his job of course I will support him until he gets back on his feet because I am sure if I was in that situation he would support me as well. If it's someone who has no ambition and is lazy I don't believe I would get involved with him in the first place.

Well if he's very good, it might be worth a few beers and a order in dinner.
