Usually would see someone who was there for a second and then they were gone. The cats would look at something that didn't appear to be there from time to time and I would feel a presence in the one hallway. Nothing big happened.
i would need plenty of evidence to believe a ghost was haunting someone's house...but do think it is possible...that hauntings take place and maybe the real are covered up
Tsubie52: Not sure about ghosts. There are "phroggers" tho, people who are skilled in living secretly in others homes. Some live in walls (believe it or not), basements or crawl spaces. They also move from house to house to avoid detection. Some even try to scare residents into moving so they can have the place to themselves.
I think I'd be more scared to see a real living person in my home than any aberration.

DiggableHippy49: Yes. They are real. Especially at a young age. At age 2 to 3 in Minot, ND, I recall seeing 3 figures around my bed. One at the foot of the bed was at least a foot taller than I, on the right hand side was one about my height and the other was around a couple of inches taller. To me, they looked identical to pawn pieces from a chess game. Many years later, I come to find out that what I saw was something that I did not see also.

Spirits on the other hand interact with living humans and can be spoken with.

If you live alone and you suddenly see a woman sitting in a rocking chair (who does not live there with you) then chances are she's either a ghost or a spirit. If she acknowledges your presence she's a spirit, If she gets up and carries a particular action and every time you see her she's always carrying out the same action then she's probably a ghost who won't interact with you ...

A real medium should be able to describe the aspect of the spirit whose presence they're talking to you about, know what they passed from, share a significant name, a significant date (to the person who passed or the person they're speaking to), share about an event the person in spirit form and the person they're speaking to have shared in the past and share something that happened in the life of the person they're speaking to that happened recently (something simple like a recent purchase, or incident or outing etc) and only then should the person who is being spoken to by the medium listen to the message from the person in spirit form.i know about reiki...a work colleague once practiced it and people have said it works wonders
Those 6 essential pieces of information are called validation. They validate the presence of the spirit and the the message the medium is about to pass on.
A fake medium would not be able to do any of that. Simple.

Ghosts, as far as I know, don't interact with people where as spirits can.
Spirits don't usually take over anyone's body unless there is an agreement between the medium and the spirit to allow the spirit to communicate directly through them. Most mediums don't.

a friend of mine.worked in an old peoples home.....saw this figure of a woman in a flowing white gown....passing though the wall at the top of some stairs......it seems mahy other people have seen this too.......... what to think.

One was the old caretaker who had worked there all his life. He was a smoker and when the air went cold and draughty in the smokers room (I smoked back then) we knew we had a "visitor". My friend/colleague could actually see him, I couldn't but I could feel the change in the air ...
The other one was a young boy, who had been a student many years ago. We knew he was from many years ago because of the uniform he was wearing. Right colours but handknitted jumper which was no longer worn in the days of the "sightings". He used to hang around after school in the yard area outside the tech rooms, Several people saw him at different times. Always same description.
