caspatch: but what is to say i haven't found true love on cs and stay for friends, not that i have any but that is the case with some here, me included for now
I am glad you added the disclaimer about those who lost because of death..I do believe in true love and I hope to find that again at some point in my life, I had a wonderful marriage of 22 yrs and would say yes it was true love, as I still love him with everything I got. But I believe that I have room in my heart for love again.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
If there is ever a question in your heart of any of these things...then it isn't true love.
These qualities can certainly be found in all truly loving relationships. The problem with trying to “find” love in our dating lives, is that too often we don't look for these characteristics. Rather we look at physical appearance, popularity, or wealth. These are not the qualities we should be looking at. Looking at the outward appearance does not love make...but looking at the heart.
Love is best seen as devotion and action, not an emotion. Love is not exclusively based on how we feel. Certainly our emotions are involved, but they cannot be our only criteria for love. True devotion will always lead to action—true love.
I am on any dating site for friendship and playtime. A release from my everyday life....boooooring.
I am widowed twice....miss them both every day. And, if I was in a loving relationship...I most likely would still be on these sites for a different kind of enjoyment ie...diary threads and such. "whats love got to do with it?"

azucarmorena: ****DISCLAIMER This question does not apply to those who lost their true love because of death****
If you agree that true love does exists and you have experienced it, why are you on a dating website? Wouldn't you still be in a relationship with the other party? Was it really true love?
True love is an infinite bond shared by two individuals. It is also mutual. It is easily confused with romantic love. Some will argue that true love does exists and can be proven by marriages that last until the last breath is taken. But I'm asking the question all of you out there in CS land who "think" they have experienced true love.
1)True love does not expire..it is infinite 2)True love is mutual 3)True love is indestructible 4)True love can exist amongst each others flaws
It can occur multiple times but that's a different thread.
Thoughts?
Well, according to your disclaimer, much of this doesn't apply to me. But then, I've also been divorced a few times. My first and third marriages I don't really count. They were mistakes. My second, though, I lost to his medication. He became a stranger...Mr. Hyde is what I ended up with, rather than the man I'd been married to for years and who fathered my sons. I still love the man I married, it's the stranger he became that I don't love.
True love can exist, and yet the relationship not work because people change and grow and sometimes they end up going in different directions. What you have posted is regards to an idealized love that some are lucky enough to find, but not all of us.

i truly believe in true love... But i also believe that circumstances, baggage from previous relationship, and our fears can put up serious walls so as we may not realize that it is true love....I was truly in love once..but the situation was not right.. he was probably mr. right..just not at that time...
Awww Ken that was so nice. I however do not deserve it any more than anyone else. We all have the right and will to be loved by someone. And to love back. Gotta remove those conditions though. They will drive love right out the door.

When love comes a knockin at my door, it is usually the wrong address...

Stop it.....you don't need to open everytime someone knocks. Take your time....listen....learn....watch and hear what they are saying to you...or at you. Don't jump in so quickly Ken....Take your time...at least all you have lost is a bit of money and a few presents. It could be worse. TAKE YOUR TIME!

Welcome to the Western World.
I really do like the verses from the NT that you quoted in your first paragraph. Sums it up pretty good...about love.
So sorry my sense of humour doesn't meet your standards.
Oh, you misunderstood so much! I loved it, but I made a mistake with the emoticon and didn't get it on there! I was ROFL! Please forgive my computer inadequacy!
