I had a 1970 dodge custom. Ex Florida hiway patrole car. 440 4 bbl with interseptor suspension. It wasnt up to the hot chevelles or 442s on a quarter mile, but when they topped out at 130 or so, I would drop it in drive and walk away from them on anything over 1/2 mile. It would do around 170sigh Miss it, but not the gas bills.

Somehow I can't think of the GT40 as a "Muscle car" it's more of a sportscar in that while it probably goes very fast in a straight line like all the choices, it also can handle the curves better than anything else on the list.

As a UK car nut, we had limited exposure to US muscle cars ... but the Malibu was always one of my favourites .. along with the Dodge Charger ..

AMEN!
Where I worked we had a Chevy PU duelly with a 454 that we used to pull a 35' Chaparrel trailer. We replaced the carb with a 750 CFM Holly and when I finally got the thing jetted properly it had so much power it was awesome. We eventually sold the truck and the buyer was complaining about the rough idle. We told him it's normal but he wasn't happy. On his way home he was going up the interstate doing about 60 MPH and went to pass somebody and mashed the throttle and broke the rear wheels loose.
He called us when he got home and said "If you touch this engine, I'll break your hands."

It was 1967 and just rebuilt it, 327-300hp was not until later, 265V8 was the standard for 1955 originally. It turned heads.
