I thank You for this day. I thank You for my being able to see and to hear this morning. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving God and an understanding God. You have done so much for me and You keep on blessing me.
Forgive me this day for everything I have done, said or thought that was not pleasing to you. I ask now for Your forgiveness. Please keep me safe from all danger and harm. Help me to start this day with a new attitude and plenty of gratitude. Let me make the best of each and every day to clear my mind so that I can hear from You. Please broaden my mind that I can accept all things. Let me not whine and whimper over things I have no control over. And give me the best response when I'm pushed beyond my limits. I know that when I can't pray, You listen to my heart. Continue to use me to do Your will. Continue to bless me that I may be a blessing to others. Keep me strong that I may help the weak. Keep me uplifted that I may have words of encouragement for others. I pray for those that are lost and can't find their way.
I pray for those that are misjudged and misunderstood...I pray for those who don't know You intimately. I pray for those that don't believe. But I thank You that I believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for all my sisters and brothers. For each and every family member in their households. I pray for peace, love and joy in their homes; that they are out of debt and all their needs are met. I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance, or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Your hands for You to fight. I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees it
In Jesus' name. Amen!
i could not exspress that prayer better my self beautifull my brother in jesus name
Zec 8:17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.
He made heaven, but he also made hell. And He will see to it that everyone arrives at the proper destination.
Laura25: No, not really........ Never feared my father. What law are we talking about, M.?
Civil and criminal?
Well, then, let me put it this way -
the laws I agree with, I obey because my internal morality dictates me to do so - without fear,
those that I disagree with, ...those gotta be changed , not obeyed and/or feared.
Not fear the person, but the punishment for misbehaving. You may have had no reason to cause your father to punish you for misbehaving, but can you understand what I'm saying?
I'm referring to the laws of the land. Civil and criminal. It's generally acknowledged that if there was no law at all in place (good or bad) even those that are not "criminals" would murder, steal...ect. I'm speaking in general terms because it's virtually impossible for me to know/meet everyone on this planet.
May I ask where did you get your morality from? But you still obey the law even though you may disagree with them?
If you're only Good because you fear Punishment, you're no better than any Robber who stops robbing because he fears Prison, not because it is the right thing to do!
Conrad73: If you're only Good because you fear Punishment, you're no better than any Robber who stops robbing because he fears Prison, not because it is the right thing to do!Morality is Chosen,NOT coerced!
NOW you're talking!! Christians are NOT any better than anyone else. Well done.
Conrad73: If you're only Good because you fear Punishment, you're no better than any Robber who stops robbing because he fears Prison, not because it is the right thing to do!Morality is Chosen,NOT coerced!
But Conrad73, I do want to address this a little more in detail.
One of the things that Christ condemned the Pharisees for is that they were morally sound on the outside. They were the ones the people of that day looked to for spiritual guidance...much like most of the world (not incl myself) look to the RC for guidance. They did keep the Law of God on the surface....very self disciplined people. However, Christ didn't come down to heal the healthy - Matthew 9:12. Nor did Christ come for the righteous (moral), but for those that are sinners (immoral) - Matthew 9:13.
Morality can't save you no more than immorality can condemn you. I know lots of people say that if they obey the Ten Commandments they will get into heaven. Not true. For if you break the least of all those commands, you become a law breaker. Have you ever lied? But it all rests with the perfect obedience that Christ followed God that I trust in for my redemption...which is what Christians refer to The Righteousness of Christ. Obedience = Righteousness.
So you are correct in saying that all are the same when it comes to not being perfect and bad inside.

I hear you, M.
But I still beg to deffer –
growing up, I was never afraid of my father OR of his punishments. He was always proud of my brothers and I. I couldn't stand disappointing him – that's what kept me in line as a child. I wanted him to be proud of me. Picking on my real and (mostly) imaginary faults and flaws was my mom's job. Punishment doesn't make you a better person, but teaches you to find your ways around to avoid punishment.

Like everybody else - my upbringing + personal development and self growth,
in other words – a personal choice we all make.

In a nut-shell – no. Never had an opportunity neither obey nor disobey the laws which I disagree with. Except maybe for paying unreasonable taxes – that I obey, yes.

Laura I do appreciate you and that you stick to your guns. Okay, I'll leave it at that with you. I could go on and ask where your parents got their morality and so on and so on and so on...but I won't.
And just so you know (I can be slow at times), I JUST got what the "M" is for! Thanks Laura.

solsticemoon: Satan, God..neither exsists apart from mans excuses for atrocities in the name of God..and you know when you look at it how much has been carried out in the name of Satan..so the crusades and every other religious battle ever since..all in the name of God..Satan's pretty minor in the scheme of things really?...just because you read it in a newspaper doesnt mean its real! its the greatest story ever told and people are still buying into it! Hey Laura how you doing?
