I've loved every minute! Watched every single match.... Went to see the Brazil vs Netherlands quarter final, which was fantastic! The whole vibe here has been incredible and I feel quite bereft now it is all over. I'm going to miss having all the interesting tourists from all over the world all dressed up in their fan gear... At least my team won!!!! YAY!!! GO SPAIN!!!!!

Gosh LeoSO,
You are one very lucky lady... So you have been in sort of party mode for a while now...
Just writing to say.. gosh, I wish I could actually be there like yourself...
The game last night came on at 4am here, and all the games were during our night time.. so I only got to view a couple of them..
But just to acknowledge your post... you lucky girl...

Sorry did not mean watched live - That would've been a very expensive exercise!!! Watched on telly and in fan parks and went to the one match live. I do feel very fortunate to have been part of it. It really was a fantastic, probably once-in-a-lifetime experience having it here!!!!
I'm new here on this site.. I just want to share my opinion about World Cup. It's a really great event. although my country doesn't participate in the tournament (we're still far behind at football... At least we're lucky to be able to watch all live games Free on our local TV .... We must learn from world cup ... the event where we can be happy together in peace..no matter where you're from... the jabulani...the vuvuzela..the crowd...the controversy...the cry...the cheers...the drama....wow it's been emotional.... congratulation to SPAIN !!! thanks

Aw hun, it dont matter if you watched it live or not... just to be close to the atmosphere would have been wonderful..
Good wishes to you...Doesn't it make you feel good to be a part of something really big like that... I think there is an interconnection somewhere that we dont have a name for it... so for the moment its called 'just a feeling' ??? But its a good feeling...

lion131: did you enjoy the world cup,or was it not as good as you had hoped it to be?
I watched all of the games, some of them were good , with sensible playing from some teams, some were very boring.
I rooted mainly for most of the underdogs, and it did however played out that the majority of the big well known famous teams didnt make it after all.
The game on Saturday for the third place position between Uruguay and Germany however was one of the best games of the whole series. it was intense and exhilarating to watch.
Yesterday's finals .... I must say both teams played really well, even though Spain had possession of the ball for the first half mostly, the Netherlands did a great job in defending and it leveled out. It was long and intense and I really wanted Holland to win ........

Yes it is about inter-connectedness (if there is such a word)!!! Sport is fantastic that way - breaks down barriers and gives us all something in common. I think it has helped our country a lot in many ways. It's made us feel proud to be South Africans when a lot of times we aren't because of the crime & corruption factor, it's definitely helped tourism, it's also made us realise we can host a huge event like this and actually make it a success, and that when there are deadlines, we can get things done!!! All in all been a good boost for our SA self-esteem!!!

Steve5721: The best game I saw, and I watched every game, was the play off for third place, as mentiuoned earlier.
It's a shame that the Dutch team had this apparant 'instruction' to kick anything that moved...and not just the ball!
They committed (throughout the tournament) 126 fouls & 22 yellow cards were shown to them...both the highest in those categories.
It will be a final remembered, sadly, for the number of cards shown..also a record in a WC Final.
Spain deserved their win.
Yes, there were times the ref was more like a magician pulling out the yellow and red cards!!!! Was very happy about Spain winning although it was a rather long and not very interesting final as finals go.

Although I live in Spain, I wasn't particularly rooting for any team, I was hoping for a good match though. Had I wanted to go and watch kung fu taking place..I'd have watch 'Enter The Dragon' again!
It was a disappointing final and the best team prevailed in the end.
