Started cutting back last month, was 2 packs per day, down to one pack as of this morning.. none at all, and just started using the Missouri quit line.
Tried using their forums to talk with other quitters, but that forum is such a nightmare that it will drive a person to smoke.. wont go back there!

But those patches sure taste like crap!!!

no patches over here am afraid... blues

but lots of fresh fruit and water and excersise. Long walks prefferably or even longer jogs.

Entering day 3...

I need to go away for a while, but i hope both you and me stay on course at least by the time i get back - and carry on the effort from there.

jbibiza: I smoked for 11 years and then quit cold turkey for 14 years... then I bought a bar and have been smoking for an additional 11 years... I recently changed to rollup cigarettes which has cut my smoking in half, and now smoke pure tobacco without all the horrible chemical additives and feel much better for it. In fact, if a get lazy and bum a normal cigarette from someone it actually makes me nauseous.

I'm not ready to quit just yet and it's ridiculous to even try if it's not something you really want, but I think probably within the next year I'll call it quits.

Good luck.....I want to quit also - it would make so many other people happy, but I have to do it for MYSELF! sigh

OK, Today was a strange day.
Was on the patch, my mind was raceing so bad I was going nuts, finally I decided.. to hell with it, I have to have a smoke,
yanked off the patch and was going to wait a half hour to go get some cigs.
well, about 15 minutes after pulling the patch off I quit craving one, too strange.. was like the patch made me have a constant craving but fine once I pulled it off.doh

so still none, close but none.

So, hows is going for you Mano? any slipps at all yet?

ok look dr.ras, what is it that you don't understand about not smoking and doing the patch at the same time? hmm? I thought we went over this when I yelled it to you. I am proud of you for having the will power, and as far as the chantrix or however you spell the evil stuff imo there have been people going left and right to the emergency and doctors taking them off and that is NO exaggeration. Now be good, want to vent? bring it on we are herelips

hey girlfriend, I don't feel bad about jacking his thread, chantrix works but only for a period, I have personally known people who have had bad nightmares which is one of the side effects then one had cartoon characters she was seeing then one thought she was having a heart attack all three women had to go to emergency and they were told by the doctor there to quit taking them period, these are not stories they are real life happenings and then one other only had bad.....gas, really really baduh oh blushing

The rest of the day has gone much better, without the patch.
Will try one again tomorrow.. but it is gone if it makes me feel like I did this morning.
May need to try the gum, so it will be a more controller amount, instead of a constant supply?!

But hanging with it!

you are welcome it is a wonder why doctors at doctors offices prescribe them but the ones at the emergency rooms tell people to quit, contradicting bull crap and both are making money off of it, can't figure it out, is it approved by the food and drug administration? go check it out and see what IF any side effects are listed, I would if I were you at least before taking them and also find a place that gives statisics and see what they are for hospital/death rates.hug

in all honesty, the hospital/death rate cannot be nearly as bad for the pill as it can be for smoking....hug

i do keep a kind of feelings diary/journal actually...

its just that, going through my 5th day of quitting smoking, i couldnt bring myself to post anything here, i would get banned off these forums the next minute blues

i opted in hiding my profile in a frail attempt to presere what friends i do have here..., but promise to post my feelings journal as soon as i can bring myself to softening it enough to be appropriate to be posted here without getting banned...

in all honesty you might want to check your statistics seriously girlfriend, is it approved by the food and drug? but it is your life do and take what you want just be aware of what you are taking. The patch will kill if you patch and smoke at the same time that is a proven fact as well as the chantrix. the whole idea was to share your feelings of anxiety and anger and craziness with others that are trying to quit and maybe laugh at some of the things each has in common, factors my friend. You might also want to try what we call jolly ranchers get the cinnamon kind it gives off a warmth in your mouth, the feeling you might miss not having that cigg warmth.I am very proud of you even though I don't know you as I will be having to quit in a matter of months and will need the same help, my son has a certain amount of weight to lose then I have to quit cold turkey, I did try two years ago and I did not have to quit cold turkey, I used an herbal cleansing it is called smokeaway you might be able to find it online now this is supposed to work with one box on many but I found when taking the pills that it was not working on me until......I reached my last two days of pills and then the ciggs started tasting weird, why didn't I go for that second box I have no idea, no will power but two boxes may be needed as we all have different levels of toxins and tar in our bodies, the diff strokes for diff folks thingy, good luck and let us know of your progress as I will certainly being taking notes.lips

I smoked Menthol.. so I use menthol coughdrops.... helps a lot.
I didnt realize you smoke.. I had to go look at your profile again.

Funny how the mind works.. is hard as hell to type right now.. keep hitting the wrong keys because of dizziness and odd thinking.
fingers keep going faster than my mindlaugh

I know I know.... what doesnt move faster than my mindtongue

hey say it takes 2 weeks for breathing to become easier.. not correct in my case.
In 24 hours I could tell a huge difference!
already no weazing. and sleeping much better.
and not dreaming like I was when I was smoking.
