IMO Carter, while not the most effective president, will be regarded as having done more than probably any ex president in history to improve the image of the USA with his tireless work around the world on behalf of disenfranchized people, seeing that elections are carried out fairly and numerous humanitarian efforts. Carter was just too good a person to be an effective cutthroat politician.
I can agree with you on that ooby dooby. Carter was a pretty good guy and was too nice to stoop to the level of most politicians (from either party).
He was a member of the trilateral commission I believe but he certainly wasn't typical of the politicians they spawn.
"Obama will be regarded as one of the most effective presidents in history for getting needed things done, Health care reform, Wall Street regulation, mitigating the damage from the Bush deregulated oil drilling disaster by exacting payment from BP, ending two wars started by George Bush and restoring the image of America to the rest of the world. Bush will be remembered for being the biggest liar who ever was allowed to get away with stealing an election. No matter how many books he writes, he will always be remembered ducking those shoes."
My God, How I loved the video of thos shoes flying by his head !

Carter was a very good man but a poor excuse for a President. Maybe the quality of person he was kept him from serving his office effectively.
From what I have read and been told he was elected only because he was not associatable with Richard Nixon. A dead Democrat could have won the election that year.
He and Obama are both examples of what damage can be done to our country when partisan hatred and bickering takes the place of informed voting.
Just for the record.......here are some of President Carter's Accomplishments ;
Some accomplishments as president:
Panama Canal treaties Camp David Accords treaty of peace between Egypt and Israel the SALT II treaty with the Soviet Union establishment of U.S. diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China comprehensive energy program conducted by a new Department of Energy deregulation in energy, transportation, communications, and finance
educational programs under a new Department of Education environmental protection legislation, including the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act. During his presidency, he was frequently mocked -- this was undeserved, a political ploy by his opponents-- and as a result he has been undervalued in the U.S. The Nobel Prize committee, however, awarded the Peace Prize to him for his continuing efforts.
His continued efforts at his age for foreign relations and peace make him one of our most deticated USA diplomats alive......
But I guess if you're a stubborn republican - you'de continue to belittle his efforts ............

ocean78382: This thread is foolish.
Lame duck means someone who CAN NOT RUN AGAIN either by the deadline for filing being past or by law.
Obama is neither of these. Therefore the thread has just degenerated into another place for people who don't understand the simple term to vent and rant.
I think the OP knows what the term means but was wording it that was to show he thinks Obama is effectively a lame duck even if he really isn't.

And, or it's just another opportunity to pin another degrading title on Obama .........

Giving the Canal away! Treaty with China after Nixon did all the Legwork! Making the US even more dependent on Foreign Oil!etc.
He might have been a Good Guy,but definitely NOT POTUS-Material!
Ccincy: How can Obama be considered a lame duck?Did I miss something?
He has no support either from Congress or from the public. A lame duck is a president who has no chance of continuing in office beyond the end of his current term. I'd say Obama fits in that category.
UNLESS he stays in office by staging some sort of takeover.

I know you had hopes for Obama. But it's not to be.
The republicans are no better that's true. But nobody could be worse.
Since it's still very very fresh in "MY MIND" what the republicans did for us Ray .......I'll choose to Opt-out on them .....and maybe go for independent party ideas next

Good choice. Dems and Reps are just two heads on the same beast.
Watch out for Libertarians too. Ron Paul is a great guy but the Libertarian Party is no good.
