Mazza1970: it should of been much higher with a license ban, and jail time
Depends on location, but here the US...fines....jain.....and they crush the vehicles. If you want to race (as a sport) there are places for it. Streets are public and owned by the public.....they are not your little playground.
This from a guy who knows something of driving and riding fast....

bestbefore: There seems to be a lot of anger within you [just my opinion ] but you have seen the light by bringing your emotions to the forums, listening and taking notice of others opinions.Put it to good use and stop beating yourself up. I'm sure that there is a decent human being inside you somewhere.
Rigth to the point!
There must be a decent human being inside him somewhere!
If he likes to race please be it in proper places where not others are in danger.

Jamess1974: in ireland we hav no place to race apart from organzed drifting shows
This a reality of life.
In the US it is illegal to make chickens or dogs fight. Some want to do it, but it is illegal. If racing in the streets is illegal then you have to deal with it. That is life......part of being an adult. Americans can go to Thailand or somewhere if they must take part in these things....so you need also to go where what you want to do is acceptable.
Desertguy49: We used to drag race on the street when I was a teenager, I had some pretty hot Chevy's, back then, but we used a deserted blacktop country back road that no one had any reason to travel on especially late at night.
I had a 55 chevy with a 283, quarter-grind cam, traction bars, mag wheels, and a lot of other features. Metallic light brown. It was a great car for cruising the "drag" in Austin. It could lay rubber in all 4 gears. But it wasn't exceptionally fast at the top end.
I raced it at a legal drag strip a few times but lost a lot more than I won.
My older brother has built race cars for all his life. He's 69 now and still as crazy about it as ever. But he doesn't drive anymore, he just builds the motors and oversees all the rest.

Two of my favorites I owned were a black 61 Impala bubble top coupe with a 350 HP factory 348, w/tri power carb setup, Muncie 4 speed, Hurst shifter, and 456 posi. The other was a 55 Bel Aire Coupe with a 62 409 engine we put in it...I had a couple of small blocks also, they're great for RPM, but I liked the big blocks for the torque...

<<<<<Just put this 357 bored40 over in my 58 Chevy pickup, but it's for 4 wheeling, not racing...

No doubt.
But then the majority of people will always accept without question any delusion that government and the media tell them.
I would really feel uneasy if the majority agreed with me about anything whatsoever.
It's a broad road and a wide gate that leads to delusion.
And the majority will always take it.
