And to preserve a comfortable space for them in which they can grow old and die unchallenged. But the youth will always respect what is good and honest anyway so manners are irrelevant. Don't repress the youth, they are the only hope we have in this world.

I don't agree. We learn by example things like manners, respect, morals, rules, honesty. It is how society has evolved, to work in harmony and in peace as a group which brings productivity and security in numbers.
It is not about control but perhaps this generation has not done the best of jobs in strongly maintaining this necessary tradition.

If you choose to define 'manners' as simply Consideration for others and Respect for their feelings or further.... respect for all living things including the planet which is our home. Doesn't it seem a mild option compared to the control of some religions or individuals who might take it to the extreme?
Mine was a slightly flippant choosing of a word... and I understand it might have been construed differently than how I intended it.
On the other hand, children don't always respect what is good and honest if they hadn't been taught the difference or if it had never been brought up in their lives. Think about it.
Do manners have a place in modern society?
In today's world it has been blatantly obvious for many years that if you want to "get ahead" in Western Society you must suppress any concept of decency or integrity you might have. Using any means required for the egotistical ends of a few.... whether for power or profit.
This is the world as it is, a social insanity likely to lead to our eventual extinction. In such an environment, the only thing of importance is structuring your own life to meet your own beliefs, attitudes and ethics.
So.... if you consider good manners as a way of creating harmony, tolerance and decency in a world dominated and controlled by the selfish, intolerant and at worst, power mad... doesn't it seem that at minimum, manners are a mild, yet humane solution?

Under that assumption, you could say water, fire or air are essentially Gods. But all can destroy.
And if it is just a natural phenomena, why worship it at all?
It would be like creating an iconic altar to time. We can't see it, touch it, smell it or taste it, but it rules all that we do with an iron fist. So why not worship time instead of a God?

God IS OUR WISER SIDE.
I get to God through philosophy. Perhaps when I get older I'll go to church for company or perhaps sooner, to meet a devoted husband, full of principles and inner peace.

My own reasons are below, i hope it helps people looking for the realistic aspect:
- I believe in a creator because our hierarchical life is such a perfect permanence that it can't have been created by itself.
- I believe in god because Everybody must be responsible of what they done.
- I believe in a religion, to not be lost in this damn complication of life.. to live a quality life.
- I believe in Islam because it proves everything with real resources, all other religions cannot prove.
And Islam is the only religion that has got the orginal Holy codex of it.
- But I'm not a Happy believer, because all the world including muslims and all other believers go materialistic and play double game
or play the crazy man to explode somewheres

I am not sure if I believe in a God(deity), but I am sure of this,
There could be beings that have more knowledge of the working of things than us meer humans....In some eyes, that makes them a deity...I think the human race is still in it's infancy and maybe,when we mature enough, we will get the chance to meet the other more knowledgeable beings....
There is still too much unknown to make a clarification of what is what and who is who...
Travel to a land, where the people are simple and have no knowledge of the outside world and it's workings....Your knowledge alone makes you all powerful in their eyes(a possible deity)Does that make you God? Maybe, to them.
So, who is to say, what a true deity is....
Maybe what we call "God" is just someone that is more intelligent than common man....JMO

Religion has been the cause of more war, horror and inhumanity to man than any other force in human history. If anything it hold us back in our evolution as the human race. Im always astounded that humans can take the most sacred part of themselves and use it as an excuse to commit atrocities to others. Weve ALL been given this incredible gift of life on Earth and yet so many choose to arrogantly waste it in the pursuit of religion. What will save this planet and consequently the people living on it, is the Fall of organized religion. Thank goodness we have finally entered that age.

Main emotions exist, but everyone feels different in this life.
