#1 No Freedom of information is more important than any countries humiliation. #2 He has commited an act of espionage and should be extridited to ANY country which has had it's laws broken by the website. #3 He should only be extradited to the US every other country which has it's secrets revealed can go whistle.
I'm curious, if Wikileaks were printing thousands of secret documents from Iran, China or Russia just how many people would be wanting Julian Assange to be extradited to the said country to face espionage charges? How much pressure would have been applied to businesses to stop supporting Wikileaks if it had been China, Russia or Iran who had been humiliated?
I'm very unhappy about what he did . But why was it where he could find it . This is where our anger should be durected . I'm sure there's a LIB. out there saying it's all Bush's fault

He would be shot dead in the street by an agent of the country he'd compromised. Iran, China and Russia play rough.

Refreshing thread. I feel though that there should be a fourth option and that being "YES. Provided a law has been broken in that country which can be applied across international boundaries."
In that, so far, he is innocent as no such law exists. If however, the US or Iran etc determiines that he has broken one of their laws and, can prove this or, are sure they are right and can prove it that he is guilty of that law - (and if not that law than one they make and he is aware of and still breaks)and;
they can prove it and;
he is in a country that is sympathetic to their extradition wishes then by all means.
If he had no idea he was shaking the tree then he won't be the first idealistic youth to learn dropping a bar of soap over a couple decades where his nose should have been.

I'll bet those countries would either be wanting to extradite him (at best) or have him assassinated.

Ah, the joys of talking to a red-neck, you know any word longer than four letters is going to sail straight over his head! What stereotype (not steriotype) am I supposed to be perpetuating exactly? The stereotype that freedom of speech and freedom of information should only apply OUTSIDE the US? After all lets not forget the RT News network TV team imprisoned for 48hrs for filming a LEGITIMATE, LEGAL demonstration in the US shall we, Wonder what would have happened if that had been a US camera team in Moscow? Yes, I agree, the Russians, Chinese or Iranians, not to mention several other countries would have certainly CONSIDERED assassination, is that an acceptable response to a government being humiliated? Are we going to start extraditing investigative journalists to countries who have been embarrassed by their stories. Are we going to start introducing laws like the one in Turkey which make criticising the countries actions (and thereby the governments actions)? What happened to being able to hold governments to account for their actions? How are you going to do that without information?

I'm curious, what EXACTLY makes him a low-life? The fact that he has embarrassed the US government (as well as a lot of foreign dignitaries) and a hint, if you want to talk about something happier, why are you responding to this thread?
Buffy327: That's Right, It's all Bush's fault....Stupid is as Stupid does.
Which president's government made all this information available to a lowly intelligence officer? What EXACTLY do diplomats personal comments about foreign politicians have to do with terrorism? It was a disaster looking for somewhere to happen!

If you want to find out what CS members think of Assange, there are a BUNCH of old threads that go up to like 40+ pages, lovely reading...as for my responding on this thread, that's my choice and if you don't like it, well sorry, you don't own the thread and I'm free to comment as I like.
Now, tear me up and spit me out...I'm not gonna let it rain on my parade or stop my sunshine or smiles!

Everybody knows governments lie, but getting CAUGHT is the problem, I find it fascinating that the Wikileaks website has been attacked from all sides, yet have any of the companies pulling away from Wikileaks done the same to the Newspaper group printing the stories in the UK or across Europe? Not a chance! Any question of the Editor of that newspaper being extradited to the US again, not a chance! Does the term 'scapegoat' sound familiar?

Absolutely, you have every right to respond, just like I have the same right to post this poll/thread whether you think it has been done to death or not. Oh, and you haven't explained why he is a low-life?
