Kattsrose: "At Roy's memorial service they released doves.? His son Dusty turned to his brother and said "What do you think Dad would say about this?" The other replied "You take the ones on the right, I've got the ones on the left" :-)
I know guys like that.
I heard Bullet and Trigger were stuffed and mounted.
Roy's 1964 Bonneville sold for $254,500,Trigger's saddle and bridle sold for $386,500, one of many of Roy's shirts sold for $16,250, one of his many cowboy hats sold for $17,500.
Their set of dinnerware plates and silverware sold for $11,875, the Bible they used at the dinner table every night sold for $8,750, one of several of his guitars sold for $27,500 and Nellybelle the Jeep sold for $116,500.
Dale's horse, Buttermilk, sold below the presale estimate for $25,000, Bullet sold for $35,000, Dale's parade saddle sold for $104,500 and one of many pairs of Roy's boots sold for $21,250.
Trigger sold for $266,500, which seemed like a bargain because Trigger even out did Bob Hope by winning an Oscar in the movie Son of Paleface in 1953.
Everything offered in the auction at Christies were sold, fetching a total of $2.9 million.
A cable company in Omaha Nebraska ponied up more than $266,000 dollars last night at Christie's Auction for Trigger,
Stan Freberg here. Leonard Slye made over 50 movies, and was greatly beloved when we lost him recently. Who's Leonard Slye? Well, you probably knew him as Roy Rogers.[:60 SPOT BREAK]
Freberg here. As a kid, I hunkered down every Saturday at the Rialto Theater in Pasadena to watch the latest Roy Rogers movie.
His career started when a stubborn Gene Autry wouldn't show up for a movie at Republic, so they cast a singer named Leonard Slye in the role, after changing his name to Roy Rogers.
He should be remembered not just as "The King of the Cowboys," but for being a dedicated family man. He and his longtime wife and co-star, Dale Evans, established a museum in Apple Valley, where "Trigger" is mounted, over the protesting of Dale.
She once said, "All right. But when you go, I'm gonna have YOU stuffed and put on top of Trigger!" Roy said, "Fine. Just make sure I'm smiling."
We'll miss you, Roy.

We had a few of his movies in the big batch my brother bought. He seemed like a very sweet man. Both he and his wife were very dedicated to the cause of disabled children.
Why didn't my generation get someone like them for heros?
I can remember as a kid getting down on the living room floor on a Saturday morning and gazing at Roy and the gang. Even had a Roy Rogers lunch box.
The Rogers' did a lot of "public service" type work. I forget how many kids they adopted, but it was a lot.
And then after Roy Rogers was over, Sky King....w/Penney. :)
Actractorguy: Just fixing one of your paragraphs for you there Dude

jvaski: Obama's been trying to bring change and encourage a country of bone-heads with Nascar flags and Baseball banners hanging off their eves ........
Oh, I forgot the Banjo music on the verandas - evenings in the south ...........
Strange thing is I've yet to see the America your hate filled rants describe.
I've lived in New Hampshire and Colorado and driven back and forth several times. I never saw the land of the bone head baseball and NASCAR fans you are wailing about.
I've traveled around New England quite a bit. In the small towns and cities. I've met all sorts of people from all walks of life. I've seen a few people that liked to watch a ball game or a race but none that seemed as obsessed with either sport as the ones you seem to be so angry with.
Have you seen them Juan?
Have you really seen them? Flesh and blood seen them not imaginary villains that you try to hang all of the countries ills on. Real people with names and real lives.
Have you seen any of them?
Are you sure, really sure?
Let me clue you into a little truth.
Neither Bush or Obama put this country into the mess it is in. It took decades to get here. It took the efforts of millions of people buying useless junk on time.
It took the efforts of thousands of businesses trying to be always bigger and more powerful by expanding beyond need and trying to acquire their competitors all on borrowed money.
It took the efforts of our Federal, State and municipal governments spending irresponsibly to create an illusion of power and prosperity. To create the illusion that the people that would have something that they were told they wanted. To create problems and then to offer a solution. To build build dams where there are no rivers. Most importantly to create a huge bureaucracies that exist only to feed on the people they supposedly serve.
Obama is not the knight in shining armor that is going to save us all. Like his predecessors for many years he is just a figurehead and a puppet. No better or no worse than any other puppet.
Remember Kermit the Frog?
It was easy for most people to suspend disbelief for a few hours and see him as real while they watched him and the rest of his Muppet friends in a movie. Jim Henson did not seem as real to them as his hand in a green sock did.
Strange when you think about it isn't it?
Think about Kermit, Fozzie, Miss Piggy and the others when you look at the political puppets and then take a few minutes to think about who makes the words come out of their mouths.

Hey Jvaski, you talkin about my state...Banjo music on the verandas? Is that something you saw in a movie big boy?? Evenings in the South??How many Southern evenings have you spent sipping sweet tea on the veranda...you don't have a clue JV, not even close...
What is a bone head anyway JV....and Nascar is big money JV, helps support Obama's programs...the very programs your depending on........
When I was a little girl, mother used to tell me, if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything.......try it sometime......
Is "slap down" the only way you now how to make a point JV..............pitiful, absolutely pitiful!!
Just like Sweden, Denmark is a Nordic welfare state with most of its services free to the citizens. Expect to pay 72% of your money to the government on the highest income tax bracket. According to Wikipedia Denmark has the worlds highest taxes! When buying a car in Denmark one has to pay 25% VAT to the import price of the vehicle and then a 180% registration tax on top. That means when a car sells for $20 000, you have to pay an additional $45 000 as taxes for the government (total of $65 000). That’s why people in Denmark ride bikes or use one of the best public transport systems in the world. Denmark also has 2 autonomous provinces – the Faroe Islands and Greenland. The latter is over 50 times larger than Denmark but has about 100 times less people.
Who would want to live like that. I like being able to purchase a product and not be having to pay another 105% just to own it. You could not do that in America Look at the size difference in land mass and population.
