jac379: I know it would have been a better place if some people had lived.
Martin Luther King, Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed spring to mind.
I agree with you on Martin Luther King as he fought for civil rights, Diana cos she raised a lot of money for the poor but Fayed? He was just a son of a billionaire who used his dad's money to make some crap movies. Ok Chariots of Fire was quite good, but seriously, how would he make the world a better place
I think the instincts that help man survive as a species cannot change as fast as tecnological advances. Like any other species that becomes overpopulated nature will trim it in a ruthless way. This poll itself is a bit silly because the only species that can understand the question are people. Its a bit like asking turkeys in turkey language "Would Christmas dinner be better off without turkey on the menu"

I think Martin Luther King is in a different category altogether from the other two. They just happened to be born rich and got affiliated with Royalty.
jvaski: If a tree falls in the forest - and no one is around ......does it still make noise ?
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to see it crush the tree hugger who chained himself to the limb, was the tree-hugger still an idiot?

Ccincy: To be honest I think the world would be better off without people.
There would be so wars, hate, hurt, rude or nastiness in the world.
Think about that for a minute. Wars are a problem for people, not the planet. Rudeness is a problem for people, not the planet. Hurt and Nastiness... I consider it's probably pretty painful and nasty to a zebra to get eaten alive by lions and people have nothing to do with it.
So really, is this a sentiment that "people" would be better off without people? And if so, does that really make sense?

gardenhackle: Just wondering......If you answered "Yes", why are you still here?
Nope. First of all mankind is nature so we have the right to exist. And secondly, even if the biosphere were to change dramatically as a result of man's activities, plenty of other forms of life would live on after us, the planet itself would live on.
It goes against nature to think we shouldn't exist. This kind of thinking makes you wonder how humanity ever decided to climb down from the tree.
